Best Freshmen at Each Pac 12 School

Arizona:

Orlando Bradford RB Shreveport, Louisiana: Last year’s Arizona recruiting class was loaded, and this class has more Junior College transfers than most seasons. Bradford is the Wildcat’s fourth leading rusher behind last year’s freshman sensation, Nick Wilson, Quarterback Jerrard Randall and Jared Baker. Baker is a senior and Bradford should move up the depth chart next season.

Shun Brown WR Shreveport, Louisiana: Arizona is opposite of the old football program where they recruited great athletes and put them mostly on defense. Brown was a Cornerback in high school and the Wildcats are playing him at Wide Receiver.

Demetrius Flannigan Fowles DB Tucson, Arizona: Local product and a tall Defensive Back with extremely high potential.

Keenan Walker OT  Scottsdale, Arizona: The state of Arizona produces good players, but the two in-state schools have a hard time keeping them home. Walker was a 4 star recruit from right under the noses of Arizona  State and a talented player that should help the Wildcats pretty quickly.

Arizona State:

Joseph ‘Jojo’ Wicker DE Long Beach, California:  Talented young Defensive End out of traditional powerhouse Long Beach Poly. Wicker is not huge, but is extremely quick and a former 4 star recruit. Arizona State has been something of a disappointment because of early expectations due to their returning starters on defense mostly. But, Wicker is a bright spot and he has moved into a starting position.

Kareem Orr DB Chattanooga, Tennessee: Orr has played a great deal at Free Safety for the Sun Devils and looks like he could be a really good player for them and has good size for a Defensive

Back. He has started several games for the Sun Devils.

Zach Robertson OT Bellflower, California: Promising young Offensive Lineman that will need to step up next season and fight for playing time.

Bryce Perkins QB Chandler, Arizona: Local product that will compete for the starting job in 2016. Very athletic Quarterback that was rated as the 14th best Dual Threat Quarterback in the country.

Brady White QB Newhall, California: The Sun Devils top recruit in last year’s class. He was a 4 star recruit and rated as the 4th best Pocket Passer, or Pro Style Quarterback. Will compete with Perkins for the starting role next year.

California:

Carlos Strickland WR Dallas, Texas: Super tall and fast Wide Receiver from Dallas, Texas that was the Golden Bears top recruit this past season and a 4 star. He is redshirting this year because the Bears are loaded at WR this year. But, look for Strickland to explode onto the scene next season.

Ross Bowers QB Bothell, Washington: Bowers was the 13th ranked Drop Back Passer in the country last season and look for him to compete with redshirt freshman Chase Forrest to replace Jared Goff after he leaves early for the NFL.

Patrick Mekari OL Westlake, California: California will suffer a lot of losses next year starting with Quarterback Goff and a lot of their Wide Receivers and Offensive Linemen. Mekari is a back up this season and will need to probably start next season.

Lonny Powell RB Sacramento, Califorina: Powell is redshirting because Cal has some depth and

talent at RB, but he should still be one of the better freshmen in this class. He is listed at 6-0, 220 by ESPN. The big, fast Running Back prospect hopes to play both ways at California spending some time at Linebacker as well.

Kanawai Noa WR Honolulu, Hawaii: In spite of a lot of depth and talent at Wide Receiver, Noa still had the ability to see the field and catch 5 passes so far on the year.

Colorado:

Patrick Carr RB The Woodlands, Texas: The Buffaloes are in rebuilding mode and they are starting to get better. Carr has only run for 112 yards so far, but looks like a promising young prospect.

N.J. Falo LB Sacramento, California: This youngster just has that look about him. He looks like a football player and he’s already seeing playing time at Linebacker.

Isaiah Oliver DB Phoenix, Arizona: Came into Colorado as a Wide Receiver, but has switched to Defensive Back and has gotten some early playing time and looks to have some potential.

Nick Fisher CB Temecula, California: Fisher has good potential to help the Buffaloes in the

Secondary soon.

Tim Lynott OG Aurora, Colorado: A 4 star recruit from the home state is huge for Colorado and head coach Mike MacIntyre. The Buffaloes have been losing these types of recruits for a long time. This is progress for the program.

Oregon:

Taj Griffin RB Powder Springs, Georgia: Most of Oregon’s incoming freshmen are on offense, naturally. Clearly, defense is an afterthought for some of these programs. Griffin is backing up last year’s brilliant freshman Royce Freeman. Griffin came to Oregon to join his older brother, Ty, who was a transfer from Georgia Tech. Griffin is Oregon’s second leading rusher with slightly under 400 yards rushing.

Ugo Amadi CB Nashville, Tennessee:  The Pac 12 is down this season, but they are bringing talent from the Southeastern portion of the United States and much of Oregon’s talent is going to come from California and elsewhere. Amadi is a talented Defensive Back that was rated a 4 star recruit and the Ducks stole him right out of SEC territory. He is already one of the Ducks best players and has 2 Interceptions on the year, so far.

Kirk Merritt WR Destrehan, Louisiana: Another Southerner added to the Duck roster in this past

recruiting class.  Merritt is seeing a little playing time but the Ducks are pretty deep at Wide Receiver.

Canton Kaumatule DE Honolulu, Hawaii: Oregon’s only 5 star recruit and ironically plays defense. Kaumatule hasn’t played much as of yet, but he should start making a difference by next season after star Defensive End DeForest Buckner.

Rex Manu DL Mililani, Hawaii: Could be the future for the Ducks at Nose Guard, but has seen limited playing time so far.

Oregon State:

Seth Collins QB El Cajon, California: It’s a rebuilding year in the Pac 12 Conference after they had more guys taken in the first round than any other Conference in spite of having 12 schools compared to the 14 each of the SEC, Big 10 and ACC.  Oregon State is one of 3 Pac 12 schools starting a true freshman Quarterback. Collins is more of a runner than a thrower right now, but he has a lot of ability. Nobody really wanted Collins coming out of high school.

Noah Togiai TE West Valley City, Utah: Speaking of unwanted, Togiai wasn’t even rated by the recruiting services. He hasn’t caught a lot of passes, but he is listed as the starter at Tight End.

Paul Lucas WR Phoenix, Arizona: Lucas was the Beavers top rated recruit and their only 4 star. He played Running Back in high school but is a Wide Receiver at Oregon State.

USC:

Cameron Smith LB Granite Bay, California: Smith was the 8th rated Inside Linebacker prospect in the country and started the first play of the first game. Last week against Utah, Smith became a legend when he had 9 tackles and 3 Interceptions running one back for a Touchdown and taking another all the way down to the Utah 4 yard line. He was one of the main factors in USC beating Utah. He leads the Trojans in tackles and clearly is a star.

Iman Marshall CB Long Beach, California: Top rated Cornerback in the country and he plays like it. He is third on the team in tackles and has that impressive size that the NFL scouts are looking for.

He’s a very tall and athletic Defensive Back and is a now and future star on this level and probably the next.

Ronald Jones II RB McKinney, Texas: Former USC head coach Steve Sarkisian might have been an alcoholic, but he could recruit and he brought some talent to USC. Jones was rated as the top Running Back in the nation and is super speedy and talented. He is already the leading rusher on the team with 453 yards and 4 Touchdowns, but the Trojans are going with the Running Back by committee thing.

That being said, it is perfectly legal to purchase levitra tabs from an online store once you have had a history of heart disease or currently suffering from one. Tyler Petite TE Moraga, California: The second rated Tight End in the country and he is listed as the back up to Oklahoma transfer Taylor McNamara, but Petite has more receptions right now and he plays a lot of the time. He is still young and fairly thin and he will fill out, but he has the talent and he looks to be a good receiver .

Osa Masina LB Salt Lake City, Utah: The Trojans really helped themselves at Linebacker in this class and Masina is already the 8th leading tackler. He is big, strong and fast with good instincts. He had 1 fumble return for a Touchdown that showed his athletic ability.

Porter Gustin LB Salem, Utah: Another huge Linebacker that can run. He is listed as 6-5, 250 and he could outgrow the position eventually. He has seen a lot of playing time and is one of the top tacklers on the team. He’s a good pass rusher from the outside. Whoever gets the head coaching job at USC will have a lot of talent to work with.

Marvell Tell III DB Encino, California:  A good sized true freshman safety that is listed as a back up Free Safety, but is getting a lot of playing time. He’s very strong against the run, but good in coverage as well.

Noah Jefferson DT Las Vegas, Nevada: Huge freshman Defensive Lineman that has contributed a lot as a first year guy. This is an incredible class for the Trojans.

Stanford:

Bryce Love RB Wake Forest, North Carolina: Blue burner that Stanford likes to throw to out of the backfield. Can be a change of pace for Christian McCaffrey. Love ran for over 200 yards and caught 14 passes for over another 200 yards. He also returned a kickoff and I suspect he may replace McCaffrey next year as the main return man.

Trenton Irwin WR  Newhall, California: Teamed with Arizona State’s Brady White at Newhall to

form a deadly highly school combination. Irwin only had 11 receptions on the season, but looks to be the future at Wide Receiver for the Cardinal.

Quenton Meeks CB Crescent City, California: The Cardinal defense was bare going into the season so playing opportunities were there for younger players. Meeks was one of those that stepped up and played a lot. He finished with 34 total tackles and 2 picks and was an example of why the future is still bright at Stanford.

Justin Reid DB Geismar, Louisiana: The Stanford Cardinal are truly a national team bringing in talent from all over the country. Reid is a good Southerner from Louisiana that was another productive player in the Stanford secondary.

Ben Edwards DB Jacksonville, Florida: Another young talent in the Stanford secondary.

UCLA:

Josh Rosen QB Bellflower, California: Top freshman Quarterback in the country and a future super star. In his first game as a college Rosen completed 28 passes out of 35 attempts for 350 yards and 3 Touchdowns. On the season, Rosen threw for 3,350 yards and 20 Touchdowns setting himself up for a huge career in college and maybe beyond. Rosen does not have the best skills in the country, he just has that ‘it’ factor that people always talk about. He has it mostly between the ears.

Soso Jamabo RB Plano, Texas: One of the highest rated Running Backs in the country in 2015, he did not disappoint as a freshman. But, the Bruins had returning 1,000 yard rusher Paul Perkins who ran for over 1,500 last year and over 1,200 this season. Jamabo ran for over 400 yards and caught 4 passes. The Bruins have several outstanding young Running Backs, but Jamabo is the best. Perkins is focused on the Bruins Bowl game and has not announced whether he is coming back, but should he leave the position will be well manned with Soso Jamabo.

Bolu Olorunfunmi RB Clovis, California: Another top Running Back for the Bruins. He was not as highly regarded as Jamabo, but was still very promising in limited playing time in 2015 and ran for 200 yards. He is a talent at 5-10, 220.

Stephen Johnson WR San Leandro, California: Johnson only had 5 receptions this past season as a freshman. The Bruins will lose some talent at WR this year, but they have guys like Stephen Johnson to step up.

Fred Ulu-Perry OG Honolulu, Hawaii: Got some playing time as a true freshman and looks to be a beast for the future at 6-2, 305. He was rated as the top Offensive Guard prospect in the nation by ESPN.

Nathan Meadors DB San Bernardino, California: Meadors was the Bruins lowest rated recruit but found playing time in the secondary enough to register 22 total tackles and an Interception.

Utah:

Britain Covey WR Provo, Utah: 3 star recruit out of Provo that played Quarterback in high school and is way undersized at 5-9, 165 for that position. But, the kid is a player and he led the Utes in receiving as a true freshman. He also led the team in punt returns and took one back for a Touchdown. You won’t hear anything out of Covey for the next few years because he’s leaving school on a church mission after this year.

Darrin Paulo OG Sacramento, California: Beast of a man at 6-5, 340 and already a back up at

Offensive Guard, this guy will be a player for the Utes up front.

Tyrone Smith WR Fresno, California: Talented and tall receiver that will return to the Utes next season while Covey is off. He had 18 receptions for 193 yards as a freshman. Is listed as 6-4, 188 and he should have a bright future.

Cody Barton LB Salt Lake City, Utah: The Utes had 2 exellent Linebackers this past season with Gionni Paul and Jared Norris. Cody Barten got only limited playing time this past season, but should be slated to start at a Linebacker spot in 2016.

Caleb Repp TE Rancho Cucamonga, California: Repp came to Utah as a 3 star Wide Receiver prospect, but has been moved to Tight End. He’s pretty thin, but should fill out and improve as a blocker.

Washington:

Jake Browning QB Granite Bay, California:  Browning was the Huskies top rated recruit and earned the starting job before game one. He’s not quite on the level of Josh Rosen, but he’s still a very good and talented true freshman Quarterback. He threw for over 2,600 yards. Washington is in rebuilding mode and Browning is their future.

Myles Gaskin RB Seattle, Washington: The 5-9, 190 true freshman Running Back was Mr Excitement this past season. He led the Huskies in rushing with 1,121 yards and 10 Touchdowns. He got off to something of a slow start with only 5 yards rushing in game 1 against Boise State.

Trey Adams OT Wenatchee, Washington: Adams was listed as 6-6, 250 when he signed with Washington, but was 6-7, 305 when he started at Left Tackle for the Huskies as a true freshman in 2015.

Chico McClatcher WR Federal Way, Washington: 4 star Running Back recruit that moved to Wide Receiver and returned punts and kicks. Undersized player, but makes up for it with great quickness.

Isaiah Renfro WR Chatsworth, California: Three star recruit out of California with better size than some of their other receivers at 6-2, 190. Renfro caught 13 passes this past season and will be counted on next season.

Washington State:

Darrien Molton  CB Temecula, California:  The Cougars actually improved on defense this past season and Molton was a starter at one of the Cornerback positions. He was top 10 on the team in

total tackles and had an Interception and broke up 4 passes.

Tavares Martin WR Palm Beach, Florida: Undersized but speedy Wide Receiver out of Florida. The Cougars really throw the ball around and Martin was not among their top receivers, but he did snag 15 receptions and a Touchdown. Martin was also the Cougars Kick Returner this past season.

Logan Tago LB Pago Pago, Samoa:  Back up Linebacker with a lot of potential. He has good size and speed and finished with 10 total tackles.
