Ryan Nall Goes off Again

No, he’s not going to be on the Heisman list. But, if you haven’t seen this guy play you are missing out.

On Saturday, everyone was watching Clemson at Florida State, and rightfully so. That was a great game with Clemson winning 37-34.

In that game, Dalvin Cook put himself back in the Heisman race with an inspiring performance.

Ryan Nall is not like Dalvin Cook. He is not a speed back like Cook, but he’s also a bigger back. However, it’s just amazing to watch a former Tight End that was switched to Running Back mostly

because his team is not very good and then have some success.

They are calling him the Wrecking Nall now.

Nall was injured against Utah after carrying the ball 1 time for 32 yards. He missed the Oregon State game against the West Coast’s best team in Washington. Oregon State also lost their top 2 Quarterbacks against Utah.

They played last year’s starter Marcus McMaryion is back as the starter. He’s more of a runner than a passer at this point of his career.

Oregon State was already out gunned on the field by nearly everyone that they go up against.

Ryan Nall, Victor Bolden and Seth Collins are a few of their bright spots.

Ryan Nall is a really bright spot.

Washington State has the second best defense against the run in the Pac 12 Conference behind the Washington Huskies. I can hear the SEC fans reading this right now saying that doesn’t mean anything because the Pac 12 doesn’t play defense. They would be mostly right, but don’t get too cocky. Washington has a pretty good team and after early season bungles, Washington State has improved. Cougar coach Mike Leah finally caught on after all these years that even an old pirate like him needs a defense.

Washington State’s defense isn’t going to make anyone think about Alabama, but they are pretty decent against the run.  Washington vs Washington State is slowly turning into a game with really big meanings this season.

Oregon State’s Ryan Nall had little problem with the Cougar’s defense early on. The Beavers first score was Ryan Nall again just going off and demonstrating what kind of ability that he has.

He had great blocking and a nice hole at their own 10 yard line. He ran through the line and made one

slight cut and then got behind the entire defense by the 15 yard line and he just outran everybody on the Washington State defense. Like the Oregon game last season, it was not Defensive Tackles trying to run him down. It was Cougar Defensive Backs that were 40 or 50 pounds lighter and he just took off and left them. He was pulling away at the goal line still and they had no shot at catching him.

The next score for the Beavers was a swing pass out to Nall and he took it about 20 yards for an almost effortless Touchdown.

On the night, he had 3 receptions for 71 yards and a Touchdown. Plus, 19 carries for 131 yards and 2 more scores.

The Washington State offense is pretty hard to stop and the Beavers of Oregon State don’t have much of an defense. The Beavers built up a big lead, and the Cougars came roaring back.

What does Gary Andersen and his coaching staff do about it? They quit giving the ball to their bell cow, Ryan Nall, and they tried throwing the ball on most every down and Washington State came back to win the game 34-31.

On the season, Nall has 83 carries for 595 yards and 8 Touchdowns. I realize he has had some injuries to battle through, but the Oregon State coaching staff needs to feed this guy the ball. He can play.

Is he on the same level as Leonard Fournette, or Dalvin Cook? No, probably not, but he is about as talented as anyone else in the country. The Pac 12 has 3 very good Running Backs in Christian McCaffrey at Stanford, Royce Freeman at Oregon and Ryan Nall at Oregon State.

Give the guy the ball.
