Milan Richard Clemson Tight End

I don’t know how many people know that one of Clemson’s back up Tight Ends is the nephew of former Georgia great Herschel Walker.

Walker was one of the college game’s all time best Running Backs and he won the Heisman Trophy in 1982.

Walker was known as a power back, but he could also pick ’em up and put ’em down. His 10.23 100 meter time proves that he was more than just a pure power back. Herschel Walker was also really the first guy to forgo his senior season and go pro, or else he would hold every career rushing record in the books. Debate anyone about the best all time college Running Back and Herschel Walker’s name

will come up.

Milan Richard grew up in Savannah, Georgia as the son of Bill and Veronica Richard. Milan’s father was a hurdler at Georgia and his mother Veronica was a sprinter. Both were All Americans and they passed some of that athletic ability down to their son, Milan Richard.

Richard was ESPN’s 2nd rated Tight End in the 2014 recruiting class. His favorites during the recruiting period were Georgia, South Carolina and Clemson with the Tigers winning out in the end over his parent’s and uncle’s school.

As a true freshman, in 2014, Milan Richard was redshirted. This past season, Richard was mostly a special teams player as the Clemson Tigers had 2 good Tight Ends in Jordan Leggett and Stanton Seckinger. Leggett was a junior last season and Seckinger was a senior, and Leggett elected to return for his last season in 2016.

Jordan Leggett is one of the top Tight Ends in the country and had 40 receptions last season making him one of All American Quarterback Deshaun Watson’s go to guys in 2015 and probably again in 2016.

Richard will battle with Cannon Smith, Garrett Williams, DJ Greenlee, Jesse Fisher and true freshman JC Chalk from Argyle, Texas for the back up position behind Leggett.

Chalk also has famous football roots being the grandson of former Alabama coach Gene Stallings.

At 6-2, 250 Richard is not the prototype traditional Tight End like a Rob Gronkowski. But, considering Richard’s parents and uncle, he has to have plenty of speed.

If Milan Richard puts in the work he could be the future at Tight End for the Clemson Tigers.

Uncle Herschel will be proud.
