Yeah, sure, the Colorado Buffaloes really beat up on Colorado State and Idaho State by 44-7 and 56-7 respectively. Senior Quarterback Sefo Liufau has had more than his shares of troubles as the starter for the Buffaloes and he seems to have come into his own.
What surprised me most about the Colorado football team of 2016 was the play of their Offensive Line. The defense has also been something better than expected and this all comes at a good time
with the sudden demise of the quality of the Pac 12 football teams.
Stomping on Colorado State and dominating Idaho State is one thing. However, it’s another thing altogether going into the Big House in Ann Arbor and whipping the 5th ranked Michigan Wolverines.
Early on in the game between Colorado and Michigan it looked like the Buffaloes had a good shot at upsetting the Wolverines.
In the first half, the Buffaloes Offensive Line kept the Michigan Defensive Line at bay and Sefo Liufau was having a great day against one of the nation’s best defenses.
Colorado had Michigan on the ropes for a good portion of the first half and may have been competitive throughout if not for Liufau being lost for the remainder of the game when he re-injured his foot.
The defense also kept Michigan in trouble for a while. But, special teams really let them down, with a punt blocked, a very embarrassing punt into the back of a teammate, and the superman like play of Wolverine Jabrill Peppers.
I wrote about the Colorado program and the Coordinator situation here last week: Buffs

An addition on Offense and a new Defensive Coordinator has made a big early season difference.
Maybe the biggest improvement offensively, at least in my opinion, is the Offensive Line. Left Tackle Jeromy Irwin and Right Guard Tim Lynott caught my eye in early game, but the unit in general has shown improvement.
Senior Quarterback Sefo Liufau has as much experience as about any signal caller in the nation. They are much better offensively than they have been.
Colorado hung around with Michigan for the early part of the game with them on Saturday, before
the 5th ranked Wolverines pulled away. Again, part of that was the loss of senior Quarterback Sefo Liufau.
Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie is about as good at Cornerback as anyone out there. They don’t have the overall talent or depth obviously as they do at Michigan, or any number of other top schools. But, if they keep showing improvements this program will recruit lights out.
Unless I am mentally disturbed, I think this Colorado team wins enough games to gain a bowl berth. Then, they can start attracting some California and Texas recruits like they did in the days of Bill McCartney.
