Welcome to the Fight Vs Fight On

Who would have thought that the Buffaloes of Colorado would be coming to Los Angeles and playing the USC Trojans with a 4-1 record while the Trojans are 2-3.

The Buffaloes loss came at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines, but they put up a fight. USC got blown out by Alabama, then lost to conference foes Stanford and Utah.

Colorado has a bunch of nobodies on their roster and USC has just the opposite. They are loaded at almost every position.

Right now, they look like programs heading in different directions.

Everybody wanted USC Quarterbacks Max Browne and Sam Darnold. Nobody wanted Steven

Montez other than a few schools near his home in El Paso such as UTEP and New Mexico State. Colorado offered and he jumped on that.

The Buffaloes shocked the Western United States by beating Oregon by 3 points. The Eastern United States didn’t notice, of course, just like they didn’t notice Christian McCaffrey last season until the Rose Bowl and Heisman ballots had been cast.

Colorado has blown out everyone else on their schedule. Even if the opponents were weak, they still did it in impressive fashion especially when one considers what Colorado has come from in recent years.

This team is explosive and well coached. In most of their games, they have controlled the line of scrimmage and they have some speed. Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie is about as good as they come in college football.

The Trojans had high hopes coming into the season and it’s not over yet by any means. A lot of USC fans were really mad when the Trojans were blown out in Dallas by Alabama. But, USC bounced back at home the following week when they beat Utah State almost as badly as they had been beaten by the Crimson Tide, 45-7.

Stanford came to town and beat USC, 27-10, and the score makes the game seem closer than it was.

Utah was next and resulted in another loss for USC.

They still have outstanding talent, and the most in the Pac 12, by far. The problem has not been lack of talent.

They have looked better on offense since the installation of Sam Darnold at Quarterback. The redshirt freshman just adds a spark to the offense that they did not have with Max Browne.

When Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre  speaks to the team, he says ‘Welcome to the fight’. The USC Trojans’ motto is ‘Fight on’.

Should we expect a fight in Los Angeles on Saturday?

I hope so.

Colorado has been able to run the ball almost at will against four out of five opponents this year. Obviously, the team that they didn’t run well against was Michigan. Will they be able to run the ball on the USC defense? USC’s defense has been disappointing this season, so far.

Colorado’s Offensive Line has been surprisingly good, while USC’s Defensive Line has been

surprisingly bad.

How will talented Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie do against equally talented USC Wide Receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster or Darreus Rogers? What about in reverse when USC Cornerback Adoree Jackson is tied up with Colorado’s speedy Shay Fields who had 3 Touchdown receptions last week?

I’m not saying this game will be on the level of the Clemson vs Louisville game of last week, but this game could be fun to watch. I have a feeling that USC gets it going and wins, but I would not be surprised at all if Colorado comes out with a big win although I think they are a couple of seasons away from being a real contender.
