Defensive Back University

Florida Gator fans and LSU Tiger fans are fighting about who really is Defensive Back University. In other words, both schools believe they put more Defensive Backs in the NFL than anyone else.

Florida Defensive Backs in the NFL:

1. Matt Elam – Baltimore

2. Josh Evans – Jacksonville

3. Joe Haden – Cleveland

4. Will Hill – Baltimore

5. Reggie Nelson – Cincinnati

6. Marcus Roberson – St Louis

7. Jaylen Watkins – Philadelphia

8. Major Wright – Tampa Bay

LSU Defensive Backs in the NFL:

1. Delvin Breaux – New Orleans

2. Ron Brooks – Buffalo

5. Tyrann Mathieu – Arizona

6. Danny McCray – Dallas

7. Patrick Peterson – Arizona

8. Eric Reid – San Francisco

9. Tharold Simon – Seattle

With 9 players in the NFL and one of them being Patrick Peterson, looks to me as a neutral fan that LSU has the slight edge over Florida as far as producing NFL Defensive Backs.

However, Alabama, Ohio State and Texas all haveĀ  10 Defensive Backs in the NFL.

Florida State is right there with LSU with 9 Defensive Backs at the highest level.

Texas fans also like to call themselves Defensive Back University and they have more of a claim for the title, apparently, than either Florida or LSU.

The real bottom line is that Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State and Texas are all good schools that produce fabulous Defensive Backs and there’s really no such thing as Defensive Back University.
