Jonah Williams is a 6-5, 295 true freshman which isn’t really all that big by today’s standards. But, he is about to be the starting Right Tackle as a true freshman for the Alabama Crimson Tide which is no small accomplishment. Williams was ESPN Recruitings 3rd ranked Offensive Tackle in the class of 2016 and the Folsom, California native chose to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Obviously, he could have gone anywhere he wanted because he was recruited by basically the entire nation.
Two years ago, in the class of 2014, it was Alabama’s Cam Robinson that was the overnight
sensation. Robinson was the highest rated Offensive Tackle in the country out of West Monroe, Louisiana. He forsook the in-state Louisiana State University Tigers to sign with Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide of Alabama.
Robinson started in his first Spring Game and gave up a sack on his first play. But, he got better after that, and much better. He started every game as a true freshman and again this past season as a sophomore while the Crimson Tide won the national title over the Clemson Tigers.
This past season, it was Mitch Hyatt of the Clemson Tigers that was so successful. Hyatt was the 2nd rated Offensive Tackle prospect in the country and he started every game in his true freshman season and helped Clemson getting really close to winning it all.
Hyatt is a smooth and athletic Tackle and will continue to star.
This season’s Offensive Tackle sensation should be Alabama Right Tackle, Jonah Williams.
Like Cam Robinson and Mitch Hyatt, Jonah Williams was an early college enrollee. Going through Spring Drills when you should be a senior in high school is one of the better ways to get acclimated to the college game and have the best shot at playing early.
The homesickness factor is out of the way, you have at least one semester conquered and have
hopefully mastered studying for college exams.
Possibly, the only player with a shot at beating out Jonah Williams is senior Korren Kirven who is listed as the back up for both Williams and junior Cam Robinson.
Jonah Williams more than likely starts at Right Tackle as a true freshman and earns freshman All American as the Tide probably wins yet another SEC championship. Then, as Cam Robinson declares for the NFL Draft and is picked in the top 5 or 10 spots, the Alabama coaching staff moves Williams over to the Left Tackle spot for the 2017 season and Williams is a first team All American.

Offensive Tackle could be promising and readers of this blog know that I love the Offensive linemen.
Gregory Little from Allen, Texas was the top ranked guy and he signed with Ole Miss. Little is also slated to start and he will be an All American and a future NFL player.
Following him was outstanding Willie Allen of New Orleans John Curtis that stayed home and signed with LSU. Then, it was Jonah Williams ranked third.
Following Williams was Ben Bredeson of Hartland, Wisconsin that signed with Michigan. Bredeson may redshirt and start in 2017. Landon Dickerson of Hudson, North Carolina is a Seminole and he is already making people nod their heads in approval.
Liam Eichenberg from Cleveland St Ignatius signed with Notre Dame and is moving up the depth chart already.
Tramonda Moore from Oklahoma City, evaded the nearby Oklahoma Sooners and signed with Oklahoma State. He is a monster of a human being at 6-6, 350. EJ Price of Lawrenceville, Georgia spurned the advances of the SEC to head west to USC and he is a big one in his own right at 6-6, 325.
Austin Meyers from Manvel, Texas signed with TCU. Tommy Kraemer from Cincinnati Elder signed with the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. That’s just the top 10 guys on ESPN’s list.
There are many others of tremendous potential. One such prospect is Michael Jordan from Canton, Michigan. He rejected home state schools Michigan and Michigan State to sign with Ohio State. Jordan has a great name, and he also possesses great talent and he probably starts at Left Guard for
the Buckeyes as a true freshman. That’s a major accomplishment at a major school known for great linemen.
Jauan Williams from Washington, DC signed with Florida State as did Josh Ball from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Williams is 6-7, 305 approximately and Ball is even more impressive at 6-8, 325.
It appears that most of these guys will play early and often. Could this be the year of the Offensive Tackle, or Offensive Lineman, instead of the Running Back, or Quarterback?
Jonah Williams could be this season’s top new Offensive Tackles, but there’s going to be competition from other young prospects like Gregory Little and a few others.
