Notre Dame Spring Game 2014

The QB always gets more credit than he deserves and he also gets more blame than he deserves. With that said, Malik Zaire is the best QB at Notre Dame and in my mind it’s not even close.

When the season starts, Notre Dame is going to be trotting out Everett Golson.

It’s none of my business and that’s just the nature of the beast and the stubbornness of coaches.

Malik Zaire was the bright spot of this game for the Irish.

Greg Bryant is also clearly the best Running Back on the roster. The Irish coaches say they will play 3 Running Backs and Cam McDaniel will be in the mix.

Notre Dame has been known for it’s Tight Ends for a long time and this year’s version will be Ben Koyack. Making my All Freshman team in 2014 is Durham Smythe at Tight End and he looked fantastic in this scrimmage. Another outstanding prospect at Tight End for the Irish is Mike Heuerman.

This is the 5th year at Notre Dame for Head Coach Brian Kelly and this should be his youngest team. Which more than likely means that 2012 will not happen again. This defense will be solid, but they need to pick it up a bit on offense and play their best players.

Mike Denbrock was named the Offensive Coordinator for the Irish after being the WR coach in 2013. What does that even mean when the Head Coach is going to call the plays?

Brian VanGorder is the new Defensive Coordinator. Wonder what Auburn football fans would say about this?

I would love to hear from any Notre Dame fans on their thoughts about either coordinator and I absolutely hate a head coach calling his own plays. His focus is not on game management if he has his attention on play calls.

Notre Dame has plenty of depth in the Offensive Line, but that’s the way it always should be. What the Irish really need is a big time play maker or two at WR.

They have David Robinson’s son, Corey, but he’s a possession type of guy.

William Fuller is supposedly the team’s fastest guy and they are hopeful that freshman Justin Brent will be a big play guy as well.

In spite of questionable hiring processes of the coach Brian Kelly, the Irish should field another salty defense.

Jaylon Smith at LB, KeiVarae Russell and Cole Luke at CB, plus Sheldon Day at DT are stars now and for the future.

Quite a few fans came out to the Spring Game which means excitement is high in South Bend.

They play Michigan in the second game at home and Stanford at home. On October 18th, they travel down to Tallahassee to take of the Seminoles which should define Notre Dame’s season. They are a bit over matched but if they show well in that game it could mean a successful season for the Irish.
