Latest McCaffrey Update Thanksgiving

In one of the most exciting games of the season, the Stanford Cardinal came from behind with about 30 seconds left on the clock to kick a Field Goal and beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

We were all on the edge of our seats as I am sure all Stanford and Notre Dame fans were, also. The Irish drove the length of the field against a tiring Cardinal defense and score the go ahead

Touchdown. Unfortunately, for the former Playoff contenders, they left a few too many seconds on the clock.

The Stanford Cardinal, led by 5th year Quarterback Kevin Hogan, quickly moved down the field and got in Field Goal range for kicker Conrad Ukropina and he drilled it driving the Cardinal fans into a frenzy.

As great as the game was, it was not the greatest of nights for Stanford star Christian McCaffrey.

This was his chance to impress Heisman voters and he needed a long run, or a long Kick Off return, and he never got either.

He did manage to run for 94 yards, catch 3 passes for only 19 yards, return a punt for 6 yards and return 5 Kick Offs for 109 yards. All of those performances were well beneath his average and he was going to need  a huge game to come even close to overtaking Alabama Running Back Derrick Henry.

On the season, with a Pac 12 Championship game and a Bowl Game remaining, McCaffrey has 1,640 yards rushing and 37 receptions.

Maybe next year for Christian McCaffrey and the Heisman. Start the hype now.

The ending of a disappointing regular season came to a close for the Duke Blue Devils. The Blue Devils beat Wake Forest 27-21 to finish up with 7 wins and 5 losses.

But, closing up with a win and with a bowl game in the future is always good for morale.

Max McCaffrey had one of his better games as a Blue Devil during his last home game, with 5 catches for 93 yards and 2 Touchdowns and was a major part of Duke finishing it’s last home game with a win.

The oldest McCaffrey son now has 48 receptions to lead his team in receptions.

Max McCaffrey is listed at 6-2, 200 and supposedly ran the 40 yard dash in the 4.4s. I would assume he will be signed by an NFL team as a Free Agent and I would also assume it would be the Denver Broncos.

His father Ed, was the perfect Wide Receiver at 6-5 with great hands. Max has the hands, but lacks that ideal size. He does have a shot on the right team and in the right situation to play a little with the big boys.

Valor Christian High School improved to 11-2 on it’s season with a 20 to 10 win over Cherry Creek.

Dylan McCaffrey completed 15 passes out of 24 attempts for 139 yards and a Touchdown. He also ran for 26 yards and another Touchdown.

Next week, Valor Christian faces Arvada Pomona who is 10-3 on the season.

In the off season, I am sure the McCaffreys will be busy taking younger boys Dylan and Luke to visit schools and then we will know more about which way Dylan McCaffrey is leaning towards playing college football. My money would be on Stanford, Duke or Michigan. I am not a recruit, but if I was and I was offered by Jim Harbaugh, I would have a hard time turning that down.

This just might be my last update on the McCaffrey family for a while with the regular season being mostly over with.

It’s been a busy, yet great year for the the McCaffrey family.

As I have written many times here, I do not know the McCaffreys. All I do know for sure is that if I had their schedule I would be exhausted with 4 boys playing football across the country. But, how rewarding for them that their sons are all incredible athletes and stars.
