Since I have been writing this blog, LSU and Mississippi State have had some really close ending games. In 2014, the Bulldogs behind the outstanding play of current Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott, got out to a big lead.
All of the Tiger fans left at half time and they missed an outstanding come back attempt by their home team which just fell slightly short. But, you have enjoy your team not giving up and fighting back. But, I guess for some partying comes before football. I hope they enjoyed their booze as much as I enjoyed the quality ending to a good football game.
Last season, the Tigers built up the lead and then had to hold off a furious come back attempt by the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The LSU Tigers held them off to preserve the win and take an early lead
in the SEC West standings.
Fast forward to current day and the 2016 season, LSU already has a loss. They were upset on opening day by big underdog Wisconsin and could just not really get their offense going.
The offense was sluggish again in game two against FCS opponent Jacksonville State. LSU head coach Les Miles made a change at Quarterback and benched junior starter Brandon Harris for Purdue transfer Danny Etling.
Etling led the LSU Tigers to an early advantage over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in game three. It was a 14-0 lead for LSU after the 1st quarter ended and then it was 23-3 at half time.
LSU fans filed out by the truck load at half time and the second half was seen by about half of the announced number of spectators.
The first half was interesting, but the last part of the game was the best.
LSU did not score another point in the second half, but Mississippi State did. It was 23-6 with the Tigers winning when the 4th quarter began.

Back up Bulldogs Quarterback Damian Williams replaced starter Nick Fitzgerald and the rally soon began.
Williams was fortunate with Bulldog receivers making some big catches and they drove down to the LSU end zone and scored their first Touchdown of the day with just over 4 minutes remaining. It was a three score game, so nobody from LSU should have been sweating, other than from the more than oppressive Louisiana humidity.
But, Mississippi State tried an onside kick and they actually recovered with plenty of time remaining on the clock and great field position.
Quarterback Williams led the team down for another score which closed the gap to 23-20.
Apparently, LSU fans were out getting plastered and eating corndogs.
Williams completed 5 out of 8 passes for 94 yards, but just came up short and the final score remained 23-20.
More than half of the LSU fans missed it. With all of the SEC bragging about how great they are, I can’t imagine fans of another school leaving the game with the outcome still undecided. I love football, obviously, and want to watch the pre-game warmups, the entire game and then leave. Leaving early to beat traffic, or for any other reason just doesn’t appeal to me.
I also don’t quit on my team.
LSU fans want to fire Les Miles. If I were Les Miles, I would want to fire a fan base that quits on my team.
