Last weekend was probably the worst Saturday of the season in college football with very few big games. This Saturday should be much, much better with several good match ups.
The #1 Florida State Seminoles host # 23 Clemson at 7:00 Central Time. Florida State badly beat down Clemson last season, embarrassing them on national television. This year’s edition of the Clemson Tigers is not as good as last season’s. Florida State theoretically should be as good as last season but has not looked that good in their 2 early season games with Oklahoma State and the
Citadel. This teams have history and the Seminoles should have motivation to come to play. Revenge is overrated in football and I would expect a big win for Florida State.
#2 Alabama hosts #24 Florida at 2:30 Central time. Florida is much improved over last year’s version and is 1-0 in the SEC East standings. Their defense looks like the standard Gator type of defense.
Can Alabama Quarterback Blake Sims throw to anyone besides Wide Receiver Amari Cooper because the Gators’ Defensive Backs will be all over Cooper.
Free Safety Nick Perry will miss the 1st half of this game for a targeting penalty against Southern Miss. Alabama True freshman Left Tackle Cameron Robinson has started from day one, but can he handle the Florida Defensive Ends and their quickness? We will soon find out.
Alabama has not looked as good as expected, and Florida has looked better than expected. I think Alabama still wins but it may be a close game. Either way, this game should be a fun one to watch. There will be a lot of huge hits in this game and hopefully all of them are legal.
#3 Auburn travels to Kansas to play the Kansas State Wildcats on Thursday night. Finally, we have a quality game on a week night that features 2 better teams.
Personally, I think Auburn won’t have much of a problem with KSU. The Auburn Tigers just might end up winning it all this season, and that would not surprise me at all. Kansas State has improved with the emergence of Jake Waters, but will it be enough against a very good Auburn team?
I haven’t done well with my predictions this season, so tune in and find out on your own. Auburn has not been pushed yet and I’d like to see a good game here.

#4 Oklahoma heads to the mountains of West Virginia to take on the unranked Mountaineers. West Virginia and Quarterback Clint Trickett have looked much better than last season with Trickett hitting over 75% of his passes for over 1200 yards passing after 3 games.
The Sooners are 3-0 coming in and nobody has given them much of a challenge so far. West Virginia has been known to rise up and beat somebody when least expected. Oklahoma needs a win here, obviously, to keep in the National Title picture. Important early Big 12 game.
#7 LSU has #25 Mississippi State coming to Baton Rouge. Both of these schools could be considered on the fringe this season and neither can afford a loss here. A loss here for either could be devastating. The Tigers are tough to beat in Baton Rouge by anybody.
Dak Prescott has been looking really good so far, but good enough to beat LSU at home is another thing entirely.
This game will be a hard hitting battle with the winner being the one with the fewer mistakes.
Miami Florida goes to Lincoln, Nebraska to tackle the Huskers. Both teams could be considered a disappointment so far, but Nebraska is still 3-0. Miami disappointed in week 1 against Louisville, but still have a shot at a win. Big 10 needs a win over a Miami kind of program, and Miami can’t afford a loss now. Could be a good game.
Unranked Utah comes to Ann Arbor at 2-0 to take on unranked Michigan who is 2-1. Utah is generally middle of the Pac 12 and beating Michigan would be a feather on their Ute headband. Michigan and the Big 10 need this win and need it badly. The maize and blue faithful are getting restless with Brady Hoke. I don’t think changing coaches again is a good idea.
2-0 California visits 3-0 Arizona. The Cal Golden Bears are looking way better than last season and with Sonny Dykes the head coach there I am not surprised. Dykes did wonders at Louisiana Tech and should do the same at Cal. Arizona is off to a great start and has all kinds of firepower. The Wildcat defense has been beat up a bit lately and they will be needed against the Bears.
South Carolina at Vanderbilt. South Carolina bounced back big last week against Georgia and is 1-1 in the SEC. Vanderbilt is not very good and the Gamecocks really need to win this game to go 3-1 on the year and continue trying to reach 11 wins again.
