As the title of my blog claims, this is mostly an unbiased site about college football. But, I have to admit to being a Pat Tillman fan. Anybody that would be reading this blog would know who Tillman was and what he did and I am not ashamed to admit that I am still a fan.
It’s nice to see that Arizona State still honors Pat Tillman which was evident at their Spring Game.
Too many schools are running drills in the Spring Games these days. I don’t mind as long as they eventually go into the 11 on 11 game like scrimmages. Coaches are trying to make it more interesting to the fans. I liked Urban Meyer’s idea of letting students race in a 40 against football players.
I absolutely hate the non contact on the QBs and especially the back up Quarterbacks that have something to prove by escaping the pass rush.
Another thing, mixing up the teams to make them even is a waste. Are you going to run out a mixed team to take the field in your opener? No, you are going to play your first team offense and your first team defense.
Who cares who wins a Spring Scrimmage? It’s your team versus your team. Your team already wins or loses depending on what you are looking to accomplish.
All that said, Todd Graham is an excellent football coach and the Arizona State Sun Devils will be a force to reckon with again in 2014.
Arizona State did not end the year well in the Holiday Bowl against Texas Tech and look for them to be out to prove that game was a fluke.
The Sun Devils will have one of the top Offenses in the country with Taylor Casey returning and a solid Offensive Line. DJ Foster is one of the better returning Running Backs in the Pac 12.

Mike Norvell is an excellent Offensive Coordinator even if he does look 19 years old, and Offensive Line coach Chris Thomsen is one of the best in the business.
Back up QB Mike Bercovici is well thought of in Tempe, and some think he’s a better passer than Taylor Kelly. If that is the case, then the Sun Devils offense will be in good hands for the next 2 years.
The offense should only get better with the additions of Offensive Guard and former 5 star recruit, Christian Westerman and Wide Receiver Ellis Jefferson from Denton, Texas. Jefferson is a big strong receiver that could have a big year. Running Back/athlete Gump Hayes will arrive over the summer and he can fly.
Defense looks like it has a ways to go, but I have faith in coach Todd Graham and staff.
ASU opens up with Weber State, New Mexico and struggling Colorado which is easy enough. But, then, they run up against heavyweights UCLA, USC, Stanford and Washington. Utah at home should be a win, but then it’s Notre Dame, Oregon State, Washington State and then arch rivals Arizona. This is a pretty tough schedule and the Sun Devils will need to bring their A game to even survive.
I can see the Sun Devils going anywhere from 8-4 to 10-2.
