General Booty, not Booty in General

I found a stray kitten in my yard a couple of weeks ago and decided to hold onto it for a little while until my wife and son returned home. Of course, they fell in love with the cute, playful little fella and decided to keep her.

The stray still doesn’t have a name. Naming a pet is hard sometimes, but naming a child can be harder knowing they will have to live with it the rest of their lives.

If your last name is Booty, I would hope that your parents think long and hard before coming up with a name.

Something like Josh, or John David, would work pretty well. But, General? I can only assume his parents had their reasons.

I blogged about John David Booty a long time ago. John David Booty

But, General Booty has even more going for him than the other Booty boys. He is the grandson of Johnny Booty who was a highly recruited quarterback in decades past and who also played at Shreveport Woodlawn. Other hotshot quarterbacks coming out of Woodlawn High School were Terry Bradshaw and Joe Ferguson. While at Woodlawn, Ferguson threw for a then national record of over 6,700 yards in his career and 86 touchdown passes.

Johnny Booty had four boys that played football, Abram, Josh, John David and Jack. Abram played wide receiver at LSU, Josh played quarterback at LSU. But, John David left high school a year early and went to USC and played for Pete Carroll in the Trojans’s glory years a few years back. Jack was the youngest and didn’t play past high school.

A recent article by Taylor Estes at 247 sports has General Booty’s mother being the sister of Joe Ferguson and his father being Abram Booty. Now, math is not my favorite subject, but Joe Ferguson was drafted into the NFL in 1973 by the Buffalo Bills. In the NFL, Ferguson lasted 18 years which is an amazing feat in itself. He was also the quarterback on the Bills when the now infamous O.J. Simpson was running wild.

Sometime, while playing for the Bills and in his mid twenties, young Joe received a weird telephone call from his mom, or dad. I can just imagine how that must have gone.

“Say, Joe, I have some big news for you.” “What’s that, mom?” “you’re gonna have a  baby brother or sister,” “But, mom, you’re a grandparent’s age!” “I know, Joe, but your dad got me pregnant.” That must have been a fun conversation on the phone.

According to Taylor Estes, Abram Booty is 40 years old and his wife, Amy Ferguson Booty, is 42. That would make her an amazing 26 years younger than her brother Joe. Now, again, math is not my best subject, but I am getting tired just writing this thinking about parenting a toddler at Joe’s parent’s age.

Today, in a very advanced and modern world, one can easily get assistance in finding hair loss treatments or even techniques in concealing one’s hair loss problem in the web medical stores. levitra without prescription This may be due to the following reasons: Diagnostic testing buy viagra overnight is conducted more accurately. It would be better to go purchase cialis for referred website or physician recommended drug store. Some people find it side effects from cialis surprising that the young Ed Young would follow in his father’s footsteps. Coming from an athletic family, parents would be expected to play ball with her. My throwing arm quit working a few years back, and the shoulder pops. Now, if I were asked to throw out the first pitch at a game, my ball would come out like Fifty Cent’s.

Well, maybe not as bad as Fifty Cent’s because that was absolutely embarrassing.

But, the point is, that’s a huge age difference between siblings.

The older Booty’s grew up in Shreveport with the brothers playing at Louisiana powerhouse high school, Evangel. With guys like Abram, Josh and John David Booty along with many others such as Brock Berlin and the Pittman brothers, the Evangel High School team won numerous Louisiana state titles.

Due to politics of some sort, the Booty’s supposedly have had a falling out with Shreveport Evangel and moved on. Abram was coaching in California briefly, but they moved to San Antonio and General plays for Cornerstone Christian.

He’s already getting national attention for his talent and his bloodlines. But, his name is also going to attract a lot of attention.

This kid is destined to make the all name team, and maybe the best quarterback name of all time.

General Booty is only a sophomore in high school, but he’s already listed at 6-2, 180 and obviously he could grow a little more. It’s also obvious that the kid can play a little bit and he will have had top coaching by the time he signs with a college team.

Some fans like to think about the now and which recruits their school can sign this year, but for others, General Booty is a name you might want to remember.

Actually, who could forget the name General Booty?
