Charlie Woerner Georgia Recruit

Great football players coming from small towns in Georgia is nothing new. Herschel Walker is from tiny Wrightsville and Nick Chubb is from the small town of Cedartown. Champ Bailey is from Folkston, Georgia which is another small community. Garrison Hearst grew up in Lincolnton which might have 1,500 people in town on any given day.

All of these communities are huge compared to Tiger, Georgia.

Nestled in among the Blue Ridge Mountains, Tiger is located in a beautiful area of Georgia. It’s just a few miles from the South Carolina and the North Carolina borders and just a short distance from Clemson. Northern Georgia is a tremendously scenic area of the United States and well worth a visit.

Charlie Woerner grew up in the Tiger area and attended high school at Rabun County High School. Listed at 6-5, 240 with a 4.6 40 to his credit, Woerner is an outstanding athlete.

As a sophomore and junior at Rabun County he played Running Back. As a sophomore, he ran for 918 yards and 18 Touchdowns while averaging right at 10 yards per carry.

His junior season, Woerner ran for 1,187 yards and 11 Touchdowns.

In his senior year, Woerner played more as a Wide Receiver and only carried the ball 7 times. He did haul in 57 passes for 960 yards and 15 Touchdowns.

In high school, Woerner ran for 2,257 yards and 32 Touchdowns. He caught 150 passes or 2,696 yards and 28 Touchdowns.

On defense, Woerner was a Safety.

On National Signing Day, Charlie Woerner signed with the Georgia Bulldogs.

The next big question might be where will the Bulldogs play Woerner.  He is an incredible athlete at his size and looks like he could play quite a few different positions.

Woerner is big, strong, tough and fast. Plus, he’s also got a few moves for a 6-5, 240 man. I’d love to see Woerner at Tight End and with the ball in his hands. But, he would make an outstanding Defensive End, or Outside Linebacker.

It’s impossible to tell what kind of heart that Charlie Woerner possesses.  Does he have the work ethic necessary to up his game at the college level? We will find out soon enough, but this kid is an impressive athlete.
