Wednesday Night Football

My thinking is that ESPN scheduled these guys for Wednesday night because there are many hungry and desperate for football, any football, fans.

Abilene Christian travels to Atlanta, Georgia to take on Georgia State in the Georgia Dome. This is a pretty big deal for a school like Abilene Christian.

Georgia State has only been playing Division 1 football for 2 years and went 0-12 last season.

Abilene Christian went 6-5 in their first season in Division 1 football in 2013. Looks like the advantage goes to Abilene Christian, or ACU.

But, that might be a bit premature.

Abilene Christian played a very light schedule in their first season including some Division 2 teams. They played something of a puff schedule before joining the Southland conference this season. Georgia State, on the other hand, played a really tough schedule in comparison with games against top ranked Alabama, plus West Virginia, Texas State, Jacksonville State and Arkansas State. After playing the ACU Wildcats, the Georgia State Panthers take on Air Force, Washington, and Clemson. Then, they start into their Sun Belt schedule.

Georgia State will need a big win over Abilene Christian to take away from the sting from losing to Air Force, Washington and Clemson.

Georgia State is led by QB Ronnie Bell, RB Travis Evans, and WR Albert Wilson. Wilson had 71 catches for 1,177 yards, a good season for just about anybody.

ACU lost a lot of starters from last season, but look for transfer RB Herschel Sims to make his presence known from the first game. Sims played at Oklahoma State as a freshman before getting in some trouble. He is a former highly recruited Running Back.

I expect Georgia State to win by a couple of TDs. Playing powerhouses like Alabama last season has to be a huge factor for the Panthers.
