CFC PRESEASON ALL BIG 12 TEAM

QB: Bryce Petty (6-3,220) Baylor. Petty completed 250 passes out of 403 which was good for 4200 yards and 32 TDs. The most incredible state that Petty accomplished was only 3 INTs. Petty with a year of experience behind him could be scary for Big 12 opponents.

RB: Malcolm Brown (6-0,225) Texas. Brown rushed for 904 yards in 2013 for 9 TDs and caught 17 passes good for another 2 TDs. Look for Brown to have a big year under a new coaching staff.

RB: Desmond Roland (6-2,210) Oklahoma State. Rushed for 811 yards and 13 TDs as a junior. Also had 9 receptions good for 3 more TDs. Oklahoma State always has a great rushing attack and Roland is the latest back. Should have big numbers in 2014.

RB: Shock Linwood (5-8,200) Baylor. If anyone thinks Baylor’s run left with Lache Seastrunk leaving for the NFL, they are in for a bit of a shock with Shock Linwood. Also a candidate for the all name team, Linwood is an explosive back who rushed for 881 yards a year ago. Baylor’s passing attack opens the middle for the running game so expect Linwood’s numbers to improve this season.

WR: Tyler Lockett (5-11,175) Kansas State. Lockett was scary good at times especially against Texas and Oklahoma. On the year, he had 81 catches for 1262 yards and 11 TDs. He also averaged 26.5 on Kick Off returns.

WR: Antwon Goodley (5-10,225) Baylor. Big and stocky receiver that hauled in 71 passes in 2013 and 1339 yards good for 13 TDs. Expect similar numbers or even better in 2014 as these guys aren’t going to drop off any. How does a 180 pound CB hold these guy on the line of scrimmage.

TE: E.J. Bibbs (6-3,250) Iowa State. Big TE from Chicago hauled in 39 passes good for 462 yards and 2 TDs. Has good size to be the blocker that most offenses want from their Tight Ends and enough athletic ability to grab a good number of receptions.

OT: Daryl Williams (6-6,330) Oklahoma. 2nd team all Big 12 last season. Played RT but switched to Left for bowl game and performed well as did the entire team against Alabama.

OT: Troy Baker (6-6,315) Baylor. Played Right Tackle for the Bear juggernaut offense a year ago and he may slide over to the left side as is so common.

OT: Tyrus Thompson (6-5,320) Oklahoma. Oklahoma probably has the top tackle tandem in the country. Thompson lined up at Left Tackle for OU last year and did a great job. Missed the Alabama game due to injury but should be back at full strength for his senior year.

OG: Adam Shead (6-4,320)Oklahoma. Sooners have one of the top Offensive lines in the country. Shead started some in his freshman year, and has started the past 2 seasons as well. Seasoned veteran.

OG: Cody Whitehair (6-4,310) Kansas State Strong Offensive Lineman that has started almost every game he has been at Kansas State. 2nd team All Big 12 last year.

OG: Desmine Hilliard (6-4,330) Baylor. Massive Offensive Guard that is super strong. Good run blocker as well as pass blocker, obviously.

C: BJ Finney (6-4,305) Kansas State. I think Finney is the best center in the conference. He’s back for his junior year and is the leader of a solid OL

DEFENSE

DE: Cedric Reed (6-6,260) Texas. Reed had an outstanding junior season with 10 sacks and 77 total tackles. His motor never stops and he was 3rd on the team in tackles and 2nd in sacks. Look for Reed to have a huge senior year under the guidance of defensive guru, Charlie Strong. One of three Longhorns that chose to come back for their senior years and play for Strong.

DE: Charles Tapper (6-4,270) Oklahoma. Made all Big 12 last season and returns for his junior season with 49 tackles and 9 of those for losses and 5.5 sacks. Has excellent quickness off of the corner and strong against the run.

DT: Malcom Brown (6-4,305) Texas. One of the more productive tackles in the country. Had 66 tackles with 10 for losses and 2 sacks. Probably will leave early after this season and be a high draft pick.

DT: Chucky Hunter (6-1,300) TCU. Hunter is a very solid tackle from West Monroe Louisiana, a school that puts out a lot of solid players. He put up 43 tackles with 6 of them going for losses, plus 2 sacks and several QB hurries and a forced fumble. The Frogs seem to always come up with good defense.

DT: James Castleman (6-2,295) Oklahoma State. High Plains Drifter from Amarillo. Castleman was solid up front for the Cowboys. He had 33 tackles, 5 for losses and 1 sack. He broke up a pass, forced a fumble and blocked 2 kicks.

OLB: Frank Shannon (6-1,230) Oklahoma. Very productive OLB that led his team in tackles last season with 92. Also had 7 tackles for losses and 2 sacks. Look for OU to have a very active LB group this year and a solid front 7.

OLB:Jordan Hicks (6-2,240) Texas. If Hicks could make it through an entire season he is All American. He only played in 4 games last year before he was hurt. He’s got one more shot at living up to his billing as the #1 LB recruit in the country when he came in.

OLB: Eric Striker (6-0,220) Oklahoma. Striker is dangerous off the corner and lives up to his name when he gets there. Had 50 total tackles a year ago with 10.5 for loss and 6.5 sacks. He’s back for his junior season.

OLB: Pete Robertson (6-3,225) Texas Tech. Robertson was a play maker for the Red Raiders a year ago coming up with 60 tackles and 9 of those for loss. He also sacked the QB 2.5 times and had 2 INTs with 1 going for a TD.

ILB: Steve Edmond (6-3,245) Texas. Shared MLB with Dalton Santos a year ago. Edmond had 71 tackles and 2 interceptions. Look for Edmond to emerge under new coaching.

CB: Ishmael Banks (6-0,180) West Virginia Banks registered 32 total tackles and 2 interceptions with 1 being for a TD. Banks was a bright spot in an otherwise forgettable season for the Mountaineers, who often don’t put a lot of emphasis on defense.

CB:Quandre Diggs (5-10,200) Texas. Diggs moves back to his CB position in 2014. He had 56 tackles with 3 of those for loss and 2.5 sacks. Diggs also broke up 10 passes and forced a fumble.

S: Sam Carter (6-1,215) TCU. The Frogs have had their share of problems of late, but Sam Carter is not one of them. He’s a big hitter from his safety spot and had 49 tackles with 7.5 for losses and 4 sacks. Best of all, he had 5 INTs and ran one of them back for a TD. Good safety.

S: Dante Barnett (6-1,185) Kansas State. Barnett is from the same high school as Tyler Lockett, Tulsa Booker T Washington High. Barnett picked off 4 passes last year and had 76 total tackles, 2 for losses and 3 passes broken up. KSU coach Bill Snyder usually has a good defense and Barnett is a leader here.
