October 18th College Football Schedule

I went 12-3 on my predictions last week. I want to see anyone on ESPN Game Day beat that.

I missed on both Mississippi teams and Georgia.

Read my blog and leave a comment and see if you can beat me. It’s a challenge.

#6 Notre Dame is at #1 but falling Florida State. Seems like old times with the Seminoles and Fighting Irish renewing a classic series from the 1990s. Their games were definitely fun to watch with Florida State winning 5 out of 7 against Notre Dame. 1993 through 1995, the two schools played 3 classic games, with the Seminoles taking 2 out of 3.

Florida State has been #1 most of the season, but has not looked impressive at all. Something seems a little off with both the offense and the defense and I wonder if off field issues with Jameis Winston has really distracted the team overall. But, they are still unbeaten and still in the thick of things and even if they do get passed up by Mississippi State in the polls, the Seminoles probably will still be there at the end of the season.

Notre Dame is also undefeated coming in at 6-0. They have been tested against a stout Stanford team and survived.

If you are looking for common opponents, both have played against Syracuse. Notre Dame beat them 31-15 and the Seminoles beat them, 38-20, last weekend.

Notre Dame struggled mightily last week with a much tighter than expected win over North Carolina. Defensively, they did not look very good.

I am picking Florida State at home, but this could be a very good and tight game with the Irish making a fight of it. This is another one of those games that I have been looking forward to for months and it’s an extra blessing that both are unbeaten coming in.

#11 Texas A%M is at #4 Alabama. The last time they visited Tuscaloosa, the Aggies left with a win. The Crimson Tide lost 2 weeks ago at Ole Miss and they barely beat Arkansas last week in the Ozarks. They are not looking good at all, but I still have them ranked at #4 because they have more talent than anyone else. Alabama coordinators, both offensive and defensive, are way overrated and the Tide has a problem with offenses like the Aggies will bring. Nick Saban still doesn’t seem to get that he needs a  kicker, too.

Call me crazy, but I am picking the Aggies in an upset. Kirby Smart doesn’t know how to defense this offense and he has all kinds of blueprints to follow with last year’s LSU game and the last 2 Aggie losses.

Kiffin should pound the Aggies with a mix of Yeldon and Henry, but he is going to want to throw the ball. This is a game that Bama should win, but in spite of that, I am picking the Aggies.

7th ranked Georgia is visiting unranked Arkansas. This is going to be like General George Custer and the 7th calvary at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Georgia, like Custer, will come in with plenty of confidence.

Arkansas is 3-3 only, but they are the best 3-3 team in the country and they run the ball like nobody else. Their Offensive Line is bigger than huge and even though they are 0-3 in SEC play so far, that is not going to stand up. Georgia played really well against Missouri last week and I may regret picking

the other team again, but I believe the Hogs will win this one. Both teams love to run the football and this should be a fun game to watch. It’s a must win for Georgia to stay ahead in the SEC East race, but the Razorbacks need to win maybe to eventually become bowl eligible.

Arkansas’ defense held the Bama rushing game to under 90 yards last week, so Georgia is going to be hard pressed to run the ball.

The 20th ranked Kentucky Wildcats are heading down to Baton Rouge to take on the 16th ranked Tigers of LSU. I’ve noticed that the other polls don’t have LSU on them anymore. But, the Tigers still have some fight in them even if they do have Quarterbacking problems. They still have a stout defense and the same running game that they have always had. They just need a Quarterback to step up and start making some plays.

Kentucky, on the other hand, has a Quarterback and a really good one. Patrick Towles has been maybe the surprise player of the entire SEC this season. The Kentucky Wildcats were 2-10 last season and 5-1 so far this season. But, now the Wildcats are entering murderers row on their schedule with LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Georgia, Tennessee and Louisville. It will be an amazing thing if the Wildcats can finish up 8-4 after that schedule.

Kentucky is much improved and fun to watch, but I have to go with LSU in Baton Rouge.

Tennessee at #3 Ole Miss. The Tennessee Vols are the youngest team in the nation and they are playing at Ole Miss, one of the toughest teams in the country. Like Kentucky, the Vols are up and coming but it’s not going to be this season and it’s not going to happen for them at Ole Miss. The Rebels have one of the premier defenses in the entire country and it’s going to be a tough game for the Vols especially on offense.

The Vols are tough but the Rebels will have their way with them.

Missouri at Florida. Both of these schools are coming off of big losses. The Missouri Tigers were just humiliated at home by the Georgia Bulldogs, 34-0. Florida lost in the last minute to LSU at home, 30-27.

Things have gone really sour for Will Muschamp at Florida. Florida fans want him gone and he has done nothing this year to indicate that he should stay.

The Gators offense is mostly inept and the Missouri Tigers just might walk out of the Swamp with a win.

#23 Kansas State at #12 Oklahoma. Kansas State lost to a really good Auburn team, but should have won if not for missed Field Goals and a rare Touchdown drop by Tyler Lockett. Oklahoma beat Texas last week, but was pushed around mostly and were fortunate to escape with a win. Oklahoma lost in the previous game to TCU.
Dryness in eyes Mild Nausea If you are being treated pdxcommercial.com usa viagra store for acute pain with inflammation or are experiencing tension around the joint being treated, but adjustments should not be painful. If the game was at Kansas State, I would pick the Wildcats, but it’s in Norman and I am going with the Sooners in this game.

#17 Oklahoma State at #18 TCU. The Horn Frogs can be tough at home and shocked Oklahoma in Fort Worth week before last. Fort Worth won’t scare the Oklahoma State Cowboys. OSU went toe to toe with top ranked Florida State in game one and lost. They’ve won 5 in a row since that game, but they have not been overly impressive. The Frogs were 4-0 until they lost last week in Waco to the Baylor Bears.

TCU should rebound and get a win here.

#10 Baylor at West Virginia. The Baylor Bears are undefeated, but in their last game they had to score 61 to get a win and that is concerning. West Virginia loves to throw that ball around, too, and is hard to beat in Morgantown.

I am just not as impressed with Baylor as everyone else is, but they should win this game.

Out in the West, #15 Stanford will be in Tempe to play Arizona State. These 2 teams played twice last year and Stanford dominated both times. This year’s Stanford team is not quite as good as last season, but probably Arizona State is not as well. Arizona State Quarterback Taylor Kelly may be back for this game, but backup Mike Bercovici has played awesomely in his absence throwing the winning Touchdown with no time left against USC.

Stanford easily has the best defense in the Pac 12 and one of the best in the nation. I’ve always got to go with defense, Stanford beats Arizona State and takes another step to winning the Pac 12.

#25 Washington at #9 Oregon. The Washington Huskies have both surprised and impressed me this season. Coaching change left some not knowing what to expect out of Seattle, but the Huskies have been good. They have used defense and special teams to win every game this year other than the Stanford game. Will that be enough to beat the Oregon Ducks on their home turf? Probably not, as the Ducks should continue their winning ways.

This should be an interesting battle between two good teams.

#21 UCLA at Cal. UCLA is a mess right now. I have wondered since their first game against Virginia what has been going on with that program and I still don’t know, but they are just not playing overly well other than the Arizona State game.

Bruin head coach Jim Mora and his Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich got into a near brawl on the sidelines in last week’s loss to Oregon. UCLA is reeling but they should be able to rebound against Cal. The Cal Golden Bears program has improved in leaps and bounds this season after being dead last in 2013. Cal is 4-2 this season and could just as easily be 5-1 if not for a last second score by Arizona against them a few games back.

Utah at Oregon State Thursday night. Utah has been something of a surprise this season and is coming into this game at 4-1. The Utes lead the entire nation in sacks and they will have plenty of opportunity to sack the Quarterback playing the Beavers.

I would think the home team would win this game, but I am going with the Utes and their defense. Oregon State has only played one quality team and that was a blowout loss to USC.

Up in the Big 10, Rutgers is at #13 Ohio State. Rutgers is 5-1, but that won’t matter as the Buckeyes should give Rutgers a proper welcome to the Big 10. The Buckeyes have gotten better and better since losing to Virginia Tech.

Iowa is at Maryland. Iowa is 5-1 and the Maryland Terrapins are 4-2. Iowa always seems to rise up and win close games and I believe they will do the same to Maryland.

#8 Michigan State at Indiana. Indiana has one of the top run games in the country, but they are up and down. They beat highly ranked Missouri but then lost to Bowling Green. Which Indiana team comes to this game is the biggest question. Michigan State does not have the same defense they had last year, but they are still pretty good. Can the Spartans stop the Hoosier running game?

The Spartan offense is as good as any they have ever have and I believe they shut down the Indiana running game and win easily.

Virginia Tech at Pittsburgh on Thursday night. Pitt started the season out strong at 3-0 and then lost 3 straight. Running Back James Connor for the Pitt Panthers also started strong but has tapered off in recent weeks. He still has 874 yards after 6 games.

Virginia Tech has had a tough defense for years and Connor may find tough running against the Hokies.

I am going with Virginia Tech in this one.

#19 Clemson at Boston College. The Clemson Tigers would do well not to overlook the Boston College Eagles. BC lost to Pittsburgh and North Carolina State, but beat the Southern Cal Trojans. Florida transfer Quarterback Tyler Murphy has made a difference for Boston College and is not only their leading passer, but their leading rusher, as well.

Clemson got knocked off early by losing to Georgia and then Florida State, but is fighting their way back. True freshman Quarterback, Deshaun Watson, missed most of their last game against Louisville due to a hand injury. Watson should be back this week and he should lead the Clemson Tigers to a big win over Boston College.

Virginia at Duke. Virginia is one of the most improved teams in the entire nation and sitting at 4-2 on the season. Duke is 5-1 and the defending champions of the ACC Coastal division.

I’ve got to go with Duke on this one.

Georgia State vs South Alabama.  Brandon Bridge at Quarterback for South Alabama is a player that people need to watch. South Alabama should beat Georgia State fairly easily.

Please leave a comment if you think you can beat my predictions.
