A lot of us have been waiting for 3 years to see something like what we all saw on Saturday night against Alabama. Robert Nkemdiche actually making some plays was a welcome sight and he was in Alabama’s backfield a few times.
Take a long look at Robert Nkemdiche of Ole Miss some time. He is practically a freak of nature.
He is listed mostly at 6-4, 296 and there’s not a lot of fat on Nkemdiche like some linemen have. The guy is built more like a body builder than a normal Defensive Lineman.
Lining up across the line of scrimmage from Nkemdiche had to be intimidating for any Offensive Linemen. But, most of these Offensive Linemen that should be shaking in their cleats handle him pretty well.
In his first 2 seasons, Nkemdiche only had 4 total Quarterback sacks.
That including his coaches lining him up at Defensive End as well as at Defensive Tackle. In two seasons at Ole Miss he had 12 tackles for loss and 8 of those came during his true freshman season.
This season, he had 2 1/2 tackles for loss against Alabama alone. But, he needs to prove he can keep that up and finish out strong.
Either way, an NFL team is going to draft Robert Nkemdiche very early just on the way he looks alone, his size and his speed. The man does look scary.
Robert Nkemdiche supposed physical talents, skills and abilities were clearly shown at the high school level which earned him the ranking of the top recruit in the country.
At Loganville, Georgia’s Grayson High School Nkemdiche was a beast on the football field totaling 18 sacks as a junior and finishing up with 41 total quarterback sacks. Nkemdiche played Running Back or Fullback on offense and ran for over 500 yards as a junior with 17 Touchdowns. His numbers went down on both sides of the ball as a senior in high school, but his size and speed were so intriguing that he was still the most highly coveted recruit in the nation. He was the consensus number 1 guy.
As a junior in high school, Nkemdiche participated in Track and Field, but only in the Field events. He finished second in the state in the shot put and also finished second in the discus. In the weight room, Nkemdiche supposedly benched 350 pounds, and power cleaned 335 pounds. Benching 350 pounds is not especially impressive for a kid of his size, but power cleaning 335 pounds is very good. He also squatted 500 pounds.
Most impressive stat of all and especially for a man, or a high school kid, nearly weighing 300 pounds is a 4.56 40 yard dash time.

There’s no doubt that Robert Nkemdiche will announce he is leaving school early for the NFL Draft after this season. With another game or two like he had against Alabama on Saturday Night, Nkemdiche might have a shot at the very first pick.
Nkemdiche, however, is not like other college football players that declare early. His parents were Nigerian immigrants, but his father is a Cardiologist and his mother is a politician.
He doesn’t have the same financial issues that some players will have. Does he have the hunger and the desire to be a top Defensive Lineman or a top NFL player?
I don’t know the guy and I can’t tell you if Robert Nkemdiche has any heart or the drive to be the best. Physically, he’s about as impressive as they come. He’s more than likely on the same level as Jadeveon Clowney physically. But, the question remains with Nkemdiche just like it remains with Clowney. Do they really want to be great?
Nkemdiche has finished up three games going into his last season in college. If Ole Miss can win the SEC West and win the SEC Championship and make the playoffs and win it all that would give them 12 more games to produce this season. Nkemdiche has a shot at putting up some magnificent
numbers during the 2015 season.
Last year, I wrote about Ole Miss and Mississippi State possibly going undefeated into their annual Egg Bowl game. I hoped it would happen for a number of reasons. After 7 games going unbeaten, the Ole Miss Rebels fell apart to end the 2014 season, losing 4 games total.
But, this year could be different.
If 2015 is going to be different than 2014, then guys like Robert Nkemdiche are going to have to step up and assume leadership roles and make some plays.
I am ready to see a beastly Robert Nkemdiche intimidate some Quarterbacks.
