Steve Spurrier Done, too

What a crazy season and I am glad College Football Crazy is a part of it.

Soon after USC coach Steve Sarkisian is fired, the other school that likes to call themselves the USC has lost their head coach as well with Steve Spurrier announcing he is retiring.

He’s not retiring at the end of the year, he is going ahead and stepping down now.

With a career record of 228-89-2 at Duke, Florida and South Carolina the 70 year old Spurrier was one of college football’s greatest all time coaches.

I am not sure why the 70 year old Spurrier didn’t wait till the end of the season to step down, but he is done at South Carolina as of today.

He also led South Carolina to their most successful period in their history going 11-2 3 seasons in a row from 2011 to 2013.

One could always count on Steve Spurrier to have something controversial and interesting to say.

One more notable thing about Spurrier, love him or hate him, he was still the only Heisman Trophy winner that had success in the college coaching arena.

I will not be watching Sports Center, but every comment about him from the talking heads will include the title ‘Ole Ball Coach’.

Steve Spurrier, you will be missed.
