Friday the 13th was not a bad day for the McCaffrey boys, but Saturday the 14th was brutal.
Third son, Dylan McCaffrey, a junior and highly recruited Quarterback out of Valor Christian High
School in Colorado led his team to a convincing and impressive 47 to 3 win over Chaparral.
McCaffrey completed 15 passes out of 23 attempts good for 210 yards and 2 Touchdowns. He also ran for 21 yards on 5 carries and another Touchdown. Plus, he caught one pass for 23 yards and yet another Touchdown.
Valor Christian improved to 9-2 on the season and advances in the Colorado High School Playoffs.
Things were not quite so cheery for the older McCaffrey brothers.
Duke was beaten badly last week by North Carolina. That loss came on the heels of a poorly officiated loss to Miami. Duke was right in the mix for the ACC Coastal Division championship a few short weeks ago and this past weekend they suffered their 3rd straight loss when the Pittsburgh Panthers beat them 31-13.
Duke Quarterback Thomas Sirk missed the game due to injury, and he was replaced by sophomore Parker Boehme.
McCaffrey had 4 catches, but they only totaled 28 yards. He is still the Duke Blue Devil’s leading receiver with 42 receptions for 503 yards and 3 Touchdowns on the season, so far.

The West Coast was not any better to McCaffrey son number two as Christian and his Stanford teammates fell to the once reeling Oregon Ducks, 36-38.
McCaffrey ran for 147 yards for the second week in a row, but this time needed 33 carries to reach that total instead of 23. He improved his season numbers to 1,354 yards on 231 carries and 7 Touchdowns.
As usual, McCaffrey also caught 5 passes for 42 yards and 2 Kickoff returns for 60 yards.
Stanford came into their game against Stanford in control of the Pac 12 North at 8-1. Their only loss was in the opening game against Northwestern. Since that time, they had obviously won every game and put themselves into position to play Notre Dame for the possible right for a Playoff spot.
That all came crashing down on Saturday night when the Cardinal went for 2 with time running out and Quarterback Kevin Hogan under heavy heat from the Oregon defense hurried his pass and missed it.
Christian McCaffrey has been mentioned as a possible Heisman candidate, but Alabama’s Derrick Henry has probably taken a pretty commanding lead.
But, McCaffrey will likely finish in the top 5 or 10 in the Heisman race, but he will return for the 2016 season. His main competition will likely be former front runner Leonard Fournette and Nick Chubb.
But, in the meantime, Stanford finishes their regular season with heated rival Cal and then finishes up with Notre Dame. Plus, a Pac 12 Championship game and a bowl game and he could finish out with an impressive rushing total.
