All True Freshman Team 2015

QB: Josh Rosen – UCLA: The Quarterback of the future. Rosen threw for over 3,600 yards this season in spite of the Bruins finishing the season at 8-5.

QB: Brett Rypien – Boise State: The nephew of former Washington Redskins Quarterback Mark Rypien. The younger Rypien threw for over 3,300 for the Broncos and looks like he has a bright

future.

QB: Jake Browning – Washington: Another outstanding true freshman Quarterback. He threw for just under 3,000 yards and led his team to a 7-6 record.

RB: Saquon Barkley – Penn State: Penn State’s first big time Running Back in a while. Barkley could be a difference maker in State College for the next couple of seasons. As a freshman, he ran for just over 1,000 yards with the bowl game remaining.

RB: Ronald Jones II – USC: Blue burner from Texas, Jones ran for 940 yards and led the Trojans in rushing.

RB: Markell Jones – Purdue: Lightly recruited Runningback out of Columbus, Indiana. Jones ran for nearly 900 yards during his freshman season. The Boilermakers continue to struggle, but some of their younger players could provide the nucleus of a winning program in the future.

RB: Myles Gaskin -Washington: The super quick Gaskin may be as good as any freshman Running Back in the country. He ran for over 1,300 this year and demonstrated rare quickness and acceleration.

WR: Christian Kirk – Texas A%M: Explosive receiver from the state of Arizona, was the top receiver recruit on many lists this year. He proved those people correct right away by leading the Aggies in receiving with 70 catches. He was really outstanding as a punt returner while taking 2 back for scores.

WR: Calvin Ridley – Alabama: As explosive as Kirk was, Ridley may have been even more so. He caught 75 passes for 893 yards and 5 Touchdowns.

WR: Britain Covey – Utah: Undersized, but super quick former Quarterback was a difference maker for the Utes. He caught 43 passes and was deadly in punt returns as well. Covey will be missed

because he is leaving on a church mission for 2 years.

WR: Deon Cain – Clemson: The Tigers lost super Wide Receiver Mike Williams in game one. Clemson had some other receivers come on strong to replace the loss. Cain caught 34 passes for 582 yards and 5 Touchdowns and showed some of the skills that the missing Mike Williams had provided.

TE: Tyler Petite – USC: The Trojans had an outstanding recruiting class the past 2 seasons and this year’s Petite was a great addition at Tight End. He had 13 receptions for 119 yards and a Touchdown. At 6-6, 235, Petite has outstanding long term potential.

OT: Mitch Hyatt – Clemson: The second rated Offensive Tackle in the country this past year and he started fom day one at Left Tackle for the top ranked Clemson Tigers. He’s a very dominating Offensive Lineman with a tremendous future.

OT: Connor Williams – Texas: The Longhorns signed 18 4 star recruits in this year’s class and Connor Williams was not one of them. He was a 3 star and the 65th rated Offensive Tackle prospect in the nation. But, he turned out to be much better than the recruiting services rated him. He started every game at Left Tackle for the Longhorns in 2015.

OT: Frederick Johnson – Florida: Brand new to football only playing one year in high school. Was a 3 star and rated as the 155th Offensie Tackle in the nation. Was a back up this season, but showed

great ability and potential during playing time.

OT: Trey Adams – Washington: The Huskies are in complete rebuild mode and Adams started at Left Tackle for them.

OG: Maea Teuhuma – LSU: Monster of a man at 6-5, 330 out of Keller, Texas. Teuhuma started immediately for the Tigers and he is excellent as a run blocker with outstanding ability.

OG: Patrick Vahe – Texas: Euless Trinity, Texas: Vahe is a cousin of Teuhuma of LSU and was the 12th rated Offensive Guard prospect and he started in game one for Texas and got better during the season.

OG: Martez Ivey – Florida: The top rated Offensive Tackle in this class. He played some at Left Tackle before moving over to Left Guard where he finished up. Florida had one of the better Offensive Line classes in the nation outside of Clemson and Ivey was their bell cow.

OG: Jack Jones – Tennessee: Not many schools have out recruited Tennessee over the past couple of seasons. Jones was not even the highest rated Offensive Lineman in his class, but he didn’t take all that long to see the playing field.

C: John Keenoy – Western Michigan: Keenoy was lightly recruited which is what you would expect for a player at Western Michigan. But, he wound up as the starter at Center.

DE: Josh Sweat – Florida State: The Seminoles have recruited about as well as anyone in the

country over the past couple of years. Sweat was the 3rd rated Defensive End in the country this past year and it didn’t take him long to find playing time.

DE: CeCe Jefferson – Florida: Jefferson was the 2nd ranked Defensive End and he definitely lived up to his billing. He isn’t as big as his listed size, but he is a play maker.

DE: Arden Key – LSU: The 6th ranked Tight End may have had the best year of all of the higher ranked players. Key, at 6’6″, has some filling out to do to be really effective against the run. But, his potential is tremendous.

DE: JoJo Wicker – Arizona State: Another talent coming out of Long Beach Poly. Wicker worked his way into the starting lineup for the Sun Devils.

DT: Terry Beckner – Missouri: A 5 star recruit and the #1 guy at his position, Beckner will be one of the nation’s best before he leaves Missouri. As bad of a season as the Tigers had, very little of it was on their defense. Beckner is a beast.

DT: Daylon Mack – Texas A%M: Super young Defensive Tackle and he is excellent against the run. He was among the tackle leaders for his team in part time duty.

DT: Christian Wilkins – Clemson: I’m not sure anybody recruited better than Clemson on the Offensive and Defensive Lines. The Tigers lost most of their starters across the front line and never missed a beat this season thanks to players like Wilkins.

LB: Cameron Smith – USC: Smith was a 4 star recruit and the 8th rated Inside Linebacker in the country, but nobody really expected him to have the kind of impact that he did. Smith started from the first game on and he led the Trojans in tackles all season. He was injured in the 10th game, but is still tied for the team lead in tackles.

LB: Malik Jefferson – Texas: One of the top recruits in the country, he was an immediate starter at Texas and an instant impact. Jefferson started every game until he was injured and he is also an impact as a team leader which is rare for a true freshman.

LB: Darrin Kirkland – Tennessee: It’s amazing how many recruits from the Northern parts of the USA wind up in the SEC. Kirkland was a 4 star that came along as a player as the season progressed.

LB: Dre Greenlaw – Arkansas: Lowest rated Razorback recruit this season and he was 2nd on the team in tackles. Inspirational type of player.

CB: Kevin Toliver – LSU: A 5 star recruit and the 2nd rated Cornerback this past season. The Tigers have a loaded Defensive Backfield, but Toliver is too good to keep off the playing field.

CB: Iman Marshall – USC: Another 5 star and the top rated Cornerback in the nation and it was well deserved. Marshall started at Corner all season and was 4th on the team in tackles which is always good for a Cornerback. He had 3 Interceptions and 7 passes defended.

CB: Minkah Fitzpatrick – Alabama: Awesome freshman Cornerback had 2 interceptions and returned both for Touchdowns. He was also one of the team tackle leaders, broke up 8 passes and had 2 Quarterback sacks.

CB: Holton Hill – Texas: 14th ranked Cornerback prospect in the country and he played mostly out of default. But, he played really well at times for the Longhorns and he has that perfect size that the NFL craves these days.

DB: Derwin James – Florida State: The number one ranked Safety in the country, James played like he was the best all season.

DB: Jordan Whitehead – Pittsburgh: The ACC defensive freshman of the year led the Panthers in tackles. He also found time to play on offense and ran the ball 10 times and had 2 receptions. Very explosive player.

DB: Carlton Davis – Auburn: The Tigers signed 2 5 star recruits and 16 4 stars, and Carlton Davis was not one of them. Davis was a 3 star guy and got off to a slow start before finishing strongly.

DB: Jonathon Crawford – Indiana: Crawford was second on his team in tackles and picked off 4 passes to help his team make it’s first bowl game in a while.
