If you’ve read this blog more than just a few times, you would know that I have been pushing Leonard Fournette since before his freshman year of college.
But, I have also been pushing Christian McCaffrey during the same time period, and a few others.
Leonard Fournette is just running all over everybody and has taken a commanding lead in the Heisman Trophy race. So far this season, Fournette has run for 1,022 yards in 5 games and 12
Touchdowns. Fournette was the number one recruit in the nation two years ago and then quickly went out and proved that recruiting really does matter.
Christian McCaffrey was a 4 star recruit out of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. You can read all about the family here: http://collegefootballcrazy.com/the-mccaffrey-family/
McCaffrey played mostly as a back up his freshman season, but also as a kickoff and punt return specialist. He came on strong as the season progressed and looked great in their bowl game against Maryland.
This year, McCaffrey became the Stanford starting Running Back.
After 5 games, McCaffrey had 601 total rushing yards. But, on Thursday Night in front of a national TV audience, or those that could stay up that late, he just tore up the UCLA Bruin defense with 243 yards rushing and 4 Touchdowns.

This was his second game with over 200 yards rushing after the Oregon State game a couple of weeks ago on a Friday Night.
Not only did Christian McCaffrey run for 243 yards on the ground, he also had a Kickoff return all the way down to the UCLA 2 yards line setting up a Kevin Hogan to Austin Hooper Touchdown
pass.
McCaffrey is up to 844 yards rushing on the season at the halfway point on 130 carries and 5 Touchdowns.
He’s also caught 16 passes for 172 yards and another score and he averages over 30 yards per Kickoff return.
It’s probably time to take Christian McCaffrey off of their return teams and let him focus only on Running Back.
If you haven’t seen Stanford play this season, it’s time to turn them on and check out Christian McCaffrey.
His back up at Running Back is Barry Sanders Jr. They play good old fashioned smash mouth
football with a fifth year senior Quarterback in Kevin Hogan and a quality and experienced Offensive Line. This was a program built by Jim Harbaugh and carried on impressively by head coach David Shaw.
This Stanford team might be the West’s best shot at a playoff spot in spite of an early season loss at Northwestern.
