Christian McCaffrey Making Me Look Smart

Christian McCaffrey really only made himself look good on Friday Night, and I had nothing to do with anything. I have just been promoting him on my blog for the last 2 years.

I’m not trying to give myself a pat on the back, but the kid’s a player and he is proving it on the field.

The super talented sophomore Running Back at Stanford cranked out 206 yards Friday Night on 30 carries. He also hauled in 1 reception for 38 yards. On top of that, he had 1 punt return and 2 kick off returns for 56 yards.

Oregon State is not the best test for a Running Back as they are attempting to build a new program

under the guidance of brand new head coach Gary Andersen. I believe that Andersen will do well in Corvallis, and I love his true freshman Quarterback Seth Collins. But, they are not where Andersen wants to be just yet and particularly the defense.

But, you can’t discount what Christian McCaffrey and his Stanford teammates did to them on Friday Night.

In other good news for the Stanford Cardinal, Barry Sanders Jr ran for 97 yards and 2 Touchdowns. Sanders 62 yard Touchdown run was a thing of beauty in the second half and it helped the Cardinal begin to pull away from the pesky home team Beavers.

After 4 games, Christian McCaffrey now has 445 yards on 82 carries, but he still hasn’t scored on the ground.

He also has 13 receptions good for 157 yards and a single Touchdown. He will eventually break a Punt or Kickoff return for a score.

Stanford is 3-1 on the year with their only loss coming at Northwestern.

Incidentally, older McCaffrey brother, Max, plays at Duke and they are also 3-1 and their only loss came at the hands of dastardly Northwestern as well.

Duke impressively beat a really good Georgia Tech team on Saturday, 34 to 20.

Max McCaffrey contributed to the win with 4 catches for 48 yards, plus he caught a pass on the 2 point conversion giving the Duke Blue Devils their 34th point and a 14 point lead.

Max now has 13 catches for 194 yards and a score after 4 games.

Next up for Stanford is Arizona who got blown out at home by UCLA. Presently, the Arizona Wildcats are ranked 94th in the country in total defense which should make Christian McCaffrey and his outstanding Offensive Line begin drooling.

Arizona held top UCLA Running Back Paul Perkins mostly in check giving up 85 yards at less than 4 yards per carry. Put true freshman Bruin Running Back did light them up for a career high 96 yards on only 9 carries. Sophomore Bruin Nate Starks carried for 28 yards as the Bruins gained 213 yards on the ground as a team.

Next up for Duke is Boston College which is an entirely different type of challenge. Boston College is leading the nation in total defense by a wide margin right now. Max McCaffrey and his Duke teammates will have their work cut out for them with the Boston College Eagles. The one advantage going Duke’s way with the 3-1 Eagles is the game will be at home for the Blue Devils.
