15 Top Players in the SEC for 2015

1. Nick Chubb – Georgia: Nick Chubb blew everybody away last year while rushing for 1,547 yards and 14 Touchdowns. Chubb is a 230 pound power back with great speed and if he breaks into the clear he is difficult to run down. He is good between the tackles and outside as well. With 4 out of 5 Offensive Linemen returning, Chubb should be poised to have a huge nick chubb lungingsophomore year for the Bulldogs. In my opinion, Chubb is the best returning player in the SEC for 2015.

2. Leonard Fournette – LSU:  If Chubb isn’t the best returning player in the SEC, then it would have to be the great Leonard Fournette. Fournette was the top recruit in the country in 2014 and got all of the hype, but got off to a slow start before finishing strong. He did recover to rush for 1,034 yards and 10 Touchdowns. Fournette also returned kicks and finally returned one for a Touchdown against Notre Dame in their bowl game. Fournette is of a similar build as Chubb with great power and speed. He can run over a defender or run around them and take it the distance.

3. Robert Nkemdiche – Ole Miss: At this point, Nkemdiche still has not lived up to the hype of being the very best recruit in the nation. He has not put up the kind of numbers that fans have expected, but he has been disruptive and he does effect the opposing offenses on any given play. Nkemdiche still has time to put it all together in 2015 and if he doesn’t, he will still be a top NFL pick because of his outstanding potential.

4. Duke Williams – Auburn:  D’haquille Williams is a super talented Wide  Receiver that has only played at the top level for one season, but he is an impressive specimen and talented receiver. The 6-2, 215 Williams is a big play guy that hauled in 45 passes in 2014 for 730 yards and 5 Touchdowns. Next season will be Williams senior year and expect the numbers to improve with Jeremy Johnson

the new starting Quarterback for the Auburn Tigers. Johnson is more of a passer than Nick Marshall was.

5. Derrek Henry – Alabama: Gone is TJ Yeldon to take away carries from Henry. Sharing time with Yeldon last year, Henry still managed to rush for 990 yards and 11 Touchdowns. Henry will crash the 1,000 yard barrier in 2015 and then leave Alabama for the NFL. The 6-3, 240 Running Back will be hugely popular with the NFL and probably be a top pick. Also for his size, Henry has tremendous speed and is almost the ideal power back. http://collegefootballcrazy.com/mr-sugarland-express-meet-mr-derrick-henry/

6. Dak Prescott – Mississippi State: Prescott went from the front runner in the Heisman Trophy race to on the outside looking in with a late season collapse by the Bulldogs after jumping out to the number 1 position in the Polls. Prescott played his heart out last season and threw for 3,449 yards and 27 Touchdowns. Prescott also ran for 986 yards and 14 more Touchdowns. Prescott is 6-2, 230 and a senior from Haughton, Louisiana. He gets negative press because of his physical resemblance to Tim Tebow.

7. Laquon Treadwell – Ole Miss: In reality, Laquon Treadwell was the heart and soul of the Ole Miss team last season and when Auburn broke him in half last season, the team took a serious hit.

Treadwell was lost in the 9th game but still had 48 catches on the season which went for 632 yards and 5 Touchdowns. Ole Miss lost Bo Wallace, but have some good prospects at Quarterback coming up and if one of them comes through they should be very competitive again.

8. Denver Kirkland – Arkansas: Best Offensive Lineman in the SEC, probably. He has started from day one at Right Guard, but the Arkansas coaches moved him to Left Tackle in the Spring to get their best lineman there. Last year’s Left Tackle Dan Skipper moved to Right Tackle and Arkansas will again have one of the top Offensive Lines in the country.

9. Pharoh Cooper – South Carolina: Cooper is a big time play maker for the Gamecocks. Last season, Cooper caught 69 passes for 1,136 yards and 9 Touchdowns. He ran for another 200 yards and 2 more Touchdowns. On top of that he completed 5 passes for 2 more Touchdowns. To top all of that off, Cooper also returned punts. As a freshman in 2013, Cooper even returned Kickoffs. The 5-11, 200 junior to be from Havelock, North Carolina enters his 3rd and probably last season of college football. Pharoh Cooper is a fun player to watch.

10. Cam Robinson – Alabama: The giant 6-6, 325 West Monroe, Louisiana product was one of the top recruits in the country year before last and was a starter his first minute at Alabama. Started his entire true freshman season at the all important Left Tackle position. Robinson will be an All

American this season and then again next season and then become a top 5 or 10 NFL draft pick after his junior year.

11. Joshua Dobbs – Tennessee: The Volunteers were struggling with a 3-5 record before Dobbs entered the starting line up. When he was plugged in, the Vols then won the next 4 out of 5. In the last half of the season, Dobbs completed 112 passes out of 177 attempts good for 1,206 yards with 9 Touchdowns. He also ran for 469 yards and another 8 Touchdowns. Dobbs helped the Volunteers come from behind against the Gamecocks to win 45-42. The emergence of Dobbs has Tennessee moving up the rankings pretty quickly and ahead of schedule.

12. Vernon Hargreaves III – Florida: Hargreaves is one of the top Cornerbacks in the conference and in the country. Florida has had problems the past couple of seasons, but none of it has been the defense with stars like Hargreaves, Dante Fowler Jr and Antonio Morrison. Hargreaves is another guy that started from the beginning in college. He was one of the Gators’ top tacklers a year ago and an excellent cover corner.

13. Kentrell Brothers – Missouri: Everyone keeps writing off the Missouri Tigers and they keep winning the SEC East. Brothers is a 6-1, 240 Linebacker from Guthrie, Oklahoma that led the Tigers in tackles a year ago and teamed up with Michael Scherer to form one of the better Linebacker groups in the SEC last season. The Tigers lost some talent on defense from last year, but expect them to be very competitive again this season and for Brothers to be one of their best players.

14. A’Shawn Robinson – Alabama: The 6-4, 320 junior from Fort Worth, Texas was actually better as a true freshman. He didn’t have quite as impressive of a season last year, but I feel he will emerge again this season as one of the country’s best Defensive Linemen. If he has the kind of year expected, look for him to be another 1st round draft pick.

15. Lorenzo Carter – Georgia: Potentially, Carter is as good as any young player in the country. He did get off to a slow start in 2014 as a true freshman, but got better as the year progressed. Carter

finished with 41 total tackles and 4.5 sacks with 11 Quarterback hurries. Lorenzo Carter is 6-6, 245 with great athletic ability and speed coming off of the corner.

tie Myles Garrett – Texas A%M: Similar to Carter, but actually more productive as a true freshman. Garrett had 11.5 Quarterback sacks last season and could be in for more of the same this season.
