The Third Glasgow Bro Michigan

We have our Burlsworth Trophy for the best Walk-on player in the nation each season. The past two seasons, Oklahoma Quarterback Baker Mayfield has taken the trophy, and he should win it again in 2017.

Mayfield is the first multiple winner of the almost new Burlsworth Trophy and linemen like the Glasgows would never win a trophy like this one. It’s like the Heisman, only the glamour boys win it.

Oldest brother Graham Glasgow had some scholarship offers at smaller programs, but he chose to walk on at Michigan. With a lot of hard work. Graham earned the starting role at Center for the Wolverines. It helps that he is 6-5, 305.

After his senior season at Michigan, Graham Glasgow was drafted in the 3rd round by the nearby Detroit Lions where he started as a rookie. Graham Glasgow just has a little something that football

players need.

Second brother Ryan Glasgow played across the line of scrimmage from older brother, Graham. With Ryan playing Nose Guard mostly, Glasgow versus Glasgow in practice must have been fun to watch.

With Ryan Glasgow in the lineup, the Wolverines were an extremely tough team to run on. You don’t generally expect your interior linemen to be among the team leaders in tackles, but Ryan was 6th on the team in tackles with 43 total. The Wolverines tied Alabama for the lead nationally in total defense and they were third in the country in tackles for loss only behind Clemson and Arkansas State. Ryan was 6th on the team in tackles for loss with Ben Gedeon and the amazing Jabrill Peppers finishing tied with 15 apiece. Glasgow also had 4 Quarterback sacks which is really good for an interior lineman that is not supposed to be great at rushing the passer.

Now, Ryan has used up his eligibility and should be following older brother, Graham, to the highest level of football. The No Fun League should love Glasgow because of his heart, drive and determination. Whether he is drafted, or signs a free agent contract, Ryan Glasgow should make an NFL squad and be productive.

The Michigan Wolverines, thanks to previous coach Brady Hoke and current coach Jim Harbaugh, have been loaded along the front four. Even after losing Taco Charlton, Chris Wormley and Matthew Godin, they will not miss a beat with Rashan Gary, Chase Winovich, Bryan Mone and others ready for more playing time. Plus, incoming top talent like Aubrey Solomon and Luiji Vilain being available in the Fall.

Personally, I will follow Ryan Glasgow’s career in the NFL because he is a fun guy to watch.

Luckily for Michigan, the Glasgow family didn’t stop with the two boys. They had another, but who knows what happened with his genes. Graham is about 6-5, 305 and Ryan is about 6-4, 300. Younger brother Jordan is about 6-1, 210. But, he’s a lot faster than his older siblings.

Michigan is not just talented in the Defensive Line. It carries over to the Linebackers and the Secondary as well.

Jordan Glasgow was listed as the 4th string Strong Safety on Michigan’s 2016 depth chart. But,

according to Mwolverine.com, which is one of the best college football websites in the country, Jordan has moved up to the starting position.

Glasgow saw limited action last season and came away with 12 total tackles. But, if you saw the Michigan Spring Game, you would have seen Ryan pick off a pass in the End Zone and return it the distance for a Touchdown.

Ryan Glasgow shows the same heart, the drive, the determination, the fight, or any other description of the Glasgow brothers that anyone can bring to mind.

The season can’t get here fast enough to see the breakout players, the improved teams and Ryan Glasgow.

Is he going to be as good at his position as his older brothers were at there’s? I haven’t personally seen enough of him to know how good he can be in a starting role, but I am looking forward to it.

The Glasgows needed to have more boys.
