2017 Preseason All American Football Team

These are my guesses on who might make All American this coming season.

QB: Sam Darnold – USC: Darnold is as cool as anyone under pressure and he turned around the USC football season leading them to 9 straight wins to end the season. Darnold is 6-4, 225 and he threw for over 3,000 yards last year after a slow start. Darnold is also a decent runner and a team leader. After a fantastic redshirt sophomore season, Darnold will be one of the first players picked in the 2018 NFL Draft.

QB: Baker Mayfield – Oklahoma: Although questionable character off the field, there’s no doubt he is one of the best Offensive talents in America. Mayfield has thrown for 77 Touchdowns over the past 2 seasons and he should easily go over 100 Touchdown passes with a good senior season.

QB: Lamar Jackson – Louisville: Obviously, last year’s Heisman winner. Jackson had a tremendous sophomore season and he figures to repeat in 2017.

RB: Saquon Barkley – Penn State: A lot of factors were involved with the Big 10 championship that the Nittany Lions won last season, and Barkley was a major reason running for just short of 1,500 yards. Going into his junior season, Barkley should have another big season and be a top 5

draft pick. Supposedly, in the winter workouts, the 5-11, 225 Barkley ran a 4.33 40.

RB: Derrius Guice – LSU: With Leonard Fournette injured, Guice stepped up and ran for nearly 1,400 yards.

RB: Nick Chubb – Georgia: Chubb was still fighting to recover from a knee injury this past season. He should be fully recovered in 2017 and ready for big things.

RB: Mark Walton – Miami: If you are a Hurricane hater, you are not going to enjoy the next few years. With the returning talent and the recruiting that’s currently happening, the Canes are likely to be back in the national forefront. Walton beat out returning star Joseph Yearby and ran for over 1,100 yards and 14 Touchdowns a year ago. This season, Yearby is gone and so is Quarterback Brad Kaaya and Walton will be needed to help take the heat off the new Quarterback, so his numbers should increase.

H-Back: Jaylen Samuels – North Carolina State: I’m setting up a new position on my All American list just to accommodate Jay Sam. This guy is a player. I’m not convinced I wouldn’t move him to Running Back, he’s just that talented.

WR: Ahmmon Richards – Miami:  throwback guy to the miami glory days. when he cut back against the grain against WV in bowl game, my mind instantly went to Michael Irvin, or Blades, or any number of bad ass wr from miami past.

WR: N’Keal Harry – Arizona State: Like Richards of Miami, Harry was a true freshman last season. With improved Quarterback play, Harry should have a fantastic season.

WR: James Washington – Oklahoma State: One of the top deep threats in the country and returned for his senior season. This guy is amazing and he came from a tiny high school.

WR: Courtland Sutton – SMU: Big receiver at 6-4, 215 with all of the tools. He could be one of the top players chosen in the next draft.

TE: Mike Gesicki – Penn State: Gesicki had a crazy good 2016 season making magnificent catch

after magnificent catch. He has great leaping ability and suddenly good hands again.

TE: Troy Fumagalli – Wisconsin: Good blocker and came on strong as a pass catcher last season. In the Cotton Bowl win over Western Michigan, Fumagelli was outstanding.

OT: Mitch Hyatt – Clemson: Hyatt is in his third year as a starter on teams that have gone 28-2 and won a national title. He’s got a baby face is the only reason I see that he doesn’t receive much respect.

OT: Jonah Williams – Alabama: He started at Right Tackle upon his arrival on campus and he has now moved to Left Tackle. Better than Cam Robinson at this same point in my opinion.

OT: Orlando Brown – Oklahoma: He’s 6-8, 340 and exceptionally quick for his size and he’s about to be a second generation NFL player.

OT: Connor Williams – Texas: Williams has been a bright spot for a team that has had problems recently. He’s in his third season as a starter and should be one of the first tackles picked.

OT: Mike McGlinchey – Notre Dame: Another huge Left Tackle, McGlinchey opted to return for his senior season and he should also go in either 1st or 2nd round.

OG: Zach Bailey – South Carolina: Bailey might be at Right Tackle this season instead of Guard. Either way, he’s probably an NFL Offensive Guard soon.

OG: Ben Bredeson – Michigan: Bredeson had to come in and start when the injury bug hit Michigan, but they didn’t skip a beat.

OG: Dru Samia – Oklahoma: Extremely quick Guard with great run blocking and pass blocking abilities. I started noticing him better against good competition last year that he was dominating.

OG: Wyatt Teller – Virginia Tech: Beefy Offensive Guard that has great feet to go along with his size. He matched up well with top Defensive Linemen last season.

He moves really well and at 325 he has very little fat. He can play.

C: Michael Deiter Wisconsin: Talented Center that was forced to come in as a freshman and start a while back. Moves really well for a big man.

C: Billy Price – Ohio State: Price has been a starter at Offensive Guard for 3 seasons, but he now moves over to Center like Elfein last year. He’s always been called the strongest player on the team.

DE: Rashan Gary – Michigan: The number one recruit in the country a year ago found himself playing behind talented seniors. But, he played enough to make 24 total tackles and 5 tackles for loss

and a Quarterback sack. Gary will be better than the senior he is replacing who was very good.

DE: Tyquon Lewis – Ohio State: Sack leader the past two seasons for the Buckeyes. He came back for his senior season and he should be as good, or better, than normal.

DE: Arden Key – LSU: Super tall and quick Defensive End that has been a force the past couple of years.

DE: Bradley Chubb – North Carolina State: The Wolfpack has a stout defense and Chubb has been one of it’s leaders for a while. He also elected to return for his senior year.

DT: Dexter Lawrence – Clemson: Maybe the best true freshman Defensive Tackle I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. Will he improve as a sophomore or level off?

DT: Derrick Nnadi – Florida State: Very good Defensive Linemen with super strength and quickness. He should be unblockable this season.

DT: Da’Ron Payne – Alabama: The Tide had some huge losses up front, but no problem with guys like Payne stepping up. Very strong player that should crack some skulls this year.

DT: Ed Oliver – Houston: Another outstanding true freshman Defensive Tackle and the only 5 star recruit ever landed by the University of Houston.

DT: Christian Wilkins – Clemson: Wilkins was a standout as a true freshman at Tackle but then moved outside as a sophomore to play End when Clemson experienced some injuries. He is back at his more natural Tackle position now and teams up with Lawrence to form a scary good tandem.

LB: Jack Cichy – Wisconsin: former walk on player that stars at an inside Linebacker position. He was leading team in tackles last year before being lost for season. Now, he’s back and should be one

of best in country.

LB: Tremaine Edmunds – Virginia Tech: Big, tall and fast could be a good way to describe Edmunds. He is something of a beast on the field making tackles every where.

LB: Micah Clay – Virginia: The Cavaliers have been awful in recent years, but Clay is a baller as is safety Blanding.

LB: Shaquille Quarterman: The Canes started 3 true freshmen at Linebacker last year and Quarterman was in the middle and should be a force the next 2 years.

LB: Cameron Smith – USC: Smith has been a starter since he arrived and is really good against the run when he stays healthy. It could be a big season for him in 2017.

CB: MJ Stewart – North Carolina: Standout cover man and he plays the run really well, also, for a Cornerback.

CB: Tarvarus McFadden – Florida State: 8 Interceptions last year and this guy is a ball hawk as well as one of the top cover corners around.

CB: Rashard Fant – Indiana: Fant is in his 4th year as a starter. He’s been on the smaller side, but he has a natural instinct for the ball and has a lot of break ups.

DB: Derwin James – Florida State: Might be the best player in football in 2017. He was injured early last year and missed most of the season. It won’t matter because he will leave for NFL after this season. Outstanding Safety man.

DB: Quin Blanding – Virginia: Blanding started immediately as a true freshman and he has been a star ever since. One of the teams leading tacklers every year since he came in. He would get more attention on a better team.

DB: Godwin Igwebuike – Northwestern: One of the better players on the Wildcat team and he returns for another year. Great defender.

DB: Jordan Whitehead – Pittsburgh: Very versatile player that was used on offense two years back and he’s one of the faster players on the team.
