Jeff Driskel Louisiana Tech

I’ve become the football fan that I have always spoken out against. It’s not all about the Quarterback, but I would love to expand my readership and get noticed so I must write about the Quarterbacks instead of the killer Linebackers and the nasty Defensive Linemen, or hard hitting safeties that I so much prefer. Or, the ball hawking Cornerbacks that make life miserable on fan favorite

Quarterbacks.

On the Offensive side of the ball, I always played Wide Receiver and Tight End other than one season where I was  a starting Running Back. Okay, okay, I realize that 7th grade football doesn’t count and then I grew and there’s never been a 6-5 Running Back to my knowledge. I’ll leave those dreams to the 5-9 to 6-2 type of guys.

I just blogged about Jeff Driskel and the Florida Gators Quarterback situations under previous head coach Will Muschamp. http://collegefootballcrazy.com/jeff-driskel-or-florida/

Now, if you know me, you know that I love Will Muschamp because he is a defensive guru and he is so passionate about the game just as I am passionate about the game. I love how animated he becomes, just glad that I am not the object of his yelling and displeasure.

Jeff Driskel has transferred to Louisiana Tech and led his team to a big win over a bad program in week one. They crushed Southern University which is known more for it’s marching band than it’s sports programs.

In the Southern game, which was a 62-15 win for the Bulldogs, Driskel completed 12 passes out of 16 attempts with 4 Touchdowns. He also ran for 15 yards and a touchdown.

On Thursday Night, against tougher competition in Western Kentucky, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs had to fight from behind all night long.

Jeff Driskel and his team fought hard all night long, but came up short, 38 to 41.

Driskel completed 28 passes out of 48 attempts for 357 yards and a couple of Touchdowns. He also had an interception and had a few drops by receivers.

When he got in trouble, Driskel ran for 55 yards and another Touchdown.

In the end, the Bulldogs came up a little short.

But, I liked Driskel’s play in this game. He is 6-4, 230 to 235 with a good arm and a good set of wheels that is great whenever coverage breaks down.

Louisiana Tech Running Back Kenneth Dixon, 5-10, 215, was also impressive running for 168 yards and 2 Touchdowns.

Wide Receiver Trent Taylor is undersized, but has the heart of a lion and is a player coming down with 9 receptions for 119 yards and a Touchdown.

The jury is still going to be out on Jeff Driskel for a while, but physically this guy is very talented and he played pretty well on Thursday Night.
