Penn State Commit Justin Fields 2018

Justin Fields just might be another Deshaun Watson kind of talent.

If you’ve followed football recruiting for a while, probably you have heard stories about certain great coaches coming to a high school to watch film of a recruit with the high school’s head coach. The college coach and recruiter will watch about 3 or 4 plays of the recruit and just turn off the projector and say I want him.

Take just about any of Justin Fields’ high school highlights and it takes about the same amount of

time for your jaw to drop.

Justin Fields has already committed to James Franklin and Penn State. But, he’s a junior and signing day in 2018 is an entire year away. The question becomes, can the Nittany Lions hang on to him?

The Kennesaw, Georgia Harrison High School Quarterback certainly reminds of some of the great ones. When you can complete 60 yard passes on the run when defenders are coming up to stop you, there’s little else to say but WOW!

Not only can he make the long throws on the run, but he can complete the shorter ones as well and if there’s an opening he can pump fake and take it 80 yards to the end zone.

This kid looks like a special kind of talent.

ESPN has him rated as their number one Dual Threat Quarterback and he looks to fill the bill. Of course, it’s not all about physical talent. Does Justin Fields have leadership abilities? Does he have that heart like Vince Young, Deshaun Watson and Cam Newton which makes them place their team on their backs and say something like ‘fellas, we aren’t losing this thing’?

Can he make plays like Watson just did while leading Clemson from behind and beating heavy favorite Alabama for the national championship?

How about the last second 4th down run that Vince Young of Texas had against USC in the Rose

Bowl to lead the Longhorns over what was called the greatest team of all time, the Trojans.

What about Cam Newton bringing his team back against rival Alabama and then again against the Oregon Ducks for the national championship?

As a junior at George Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Georgia, Justin Fields led his team to a 10-2 record. He completed 165 passes out of 248 attempts good for 2,455 yards and 21 Touchdowns. Being the outstanding athlete that he is, Fields also ran for 1,089 yards and another 12 Touchdowns including an 80 yard run where he made a lot of opponents look slow.

He has given his pledge to Penn State and if he is true to his word, the Nittany Lions will be a force to be reckoned with.

Just think, a year ago, Penn State fans were complaining about James Franklin, saying things along the lines that he couldn’t coach.

Often, a school will recruit well right after a big season, but the really big results tend to come a year

after the big season. The Nittany Lions already have 10 commitments for the 2018 recruiting class. 7 of those commitments are from top 4 star guys.

Along with Quarterback Justin Fields, they also have Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Defensive End Micah Parsons who is the second rated player at his position right now. Parsons has been offered by all of the big time programs.

The 2nd ranked Running Back for early 2018, Ricky Slade from Woodbridge, Virginia is also committed to Penn State.

They also have 6-4, 205 Wide Receiver Justin Shorter out of Monmouth Junction, plus 6-8 Tight End Zach Kuntz.

Right now, at least some of the recruiting services have the Penn State Nittany Lions ranked 1st in the early recruiting battles.

It’s a long way till next signing day in 2018, but Penn State is well on it’s way.
