Pharaoh Brown Oregon Tight End

In 2014, Pharaoh Brown made my list of top Tight Ends in college football, but after that things went terribly wrong for him.

Pharaoh Brown got off to a slow start at Oregon after arriving from Lyndhurst, Ohio with the 2012 recruiting class. Brown was a 4 star Tight End rated as the 14th best in the country and at 6-7, 230 possessing outstanding potential.

In 2012 as a true freshman, Brown only caught 2 passes for 42 yards. Colt Lyerla was the Oregon Tight End that season.

Lyerla was back in 2013, but he only caught 2 passes and missed most of the season. The Ducks

signed Johnny Mundt and although he was only a 3 star recruit out of Modesto, California. Mundt stepped up and caught 16 passes that season while Brown was still coming along slowly.

Another Tight End was also signed in 2012 and he had been rated higher than Pharaoh Brown. That Tight End was Evan Baylis and he redshirted his first season. As a redshirt freshman in 2013 Baylis only caught 4 passes, but the Ducks were building depth at the position.

Pharaoh Brown was coming on strong with 25 receptions in 2014 when he was severely injured in the 10th game of the season against Utah.

He tore two ligaments and an artery that cut off the blood supply to his lower leg. Doctors thought they might have to amputate and the thought was he would never walk correctly again much less play football.

One of the pleasant surprises of the Spring was the return of talented Pharaoh Brown. Oregon fans applauded loudly every time Brown caught a pass and rightfully so.

If Brown remains healthy in 2016, the Ducks will have some good Tight Ends, both talented and deep.

Brown is 6-6, or 6-7, and 250. He’s a good blocker, but even better receiver.

Evan Bayliss is 6-6, 250. After his freshman season, he caught 15 passes as a sophomore. Johnny Mundt’s best season was as a true freshman, but he is also back for his senior season.

Oregon currently has one of the better groups of Tight Ends in the country maybe behind only Michigan.

Pharaoh Brown is the guy with the most talent of the three and the one with the most long range potential.

Plus, after what has happened to him he is a guy that you almost have to get excited about.
