Mitch Trubisky North Carolina Quarterback

In the ACC Championship game, North Carolina Tar Heels Quarterback Marquise Williams had his helmet ripped off by a Clemson Tiger defender and by rule he had to leave the game for one play. The Tar Heels’ back up Quarterback last season was Mitch Trubisky, a 6-3, 220 sophomore from Mentor, Ohio. Trubisky was needed to come in for Williams on a 3rd and 7, and he calmly and coolly completed a pass to standout Wide Receiver Mack Hollins for the first down.

Williams gave Trubisky a congratulatory slap on the hand on his way back into the game.

From what we have all seen of Mitch Trubisky, he has ice in his veins.

As a back up last season, Trubisky impressively completed 40 out of 47 passing attempts for 555 yards and 6 Touchdowns. He also ran for 101 yards on 16 carries for another 3 Touchdowns.

During his freshman season in 2014, Trubisky completed 42 passes out of 78 attempts. He had 459 yards passing and 5 Touchdowns. But, he also threw 4 Interceptions.

Trubisky signed with North Carolina with the class of 2013. Coming out of Ohio, why didn’t the Buckeyes sign him? He was ESPN’s 7th rated Dual Threat Quarterback prospect and a high 4 star. The Buckeyes and Urban Meyer signed JT Barrett from Wichita Falls, Texas. Barrett was the 11th ranked Dual Threat Quarterback that season, but everyone outside of Mack Brown at Texas could see he could play. Ohio State did offer Trubisky, but maybe he just wanted out of the state of Ohio so he decided on North Carolina.

He redshirted during his true freshman season.

In 2012, Mitch Trubisky was the state of Ohio’s Mr Football. Over his high school career, Trubisky threw for 9,123 yards and 93 Touchdowns. As if that wasn’t enough, he also ran for 1,578 yards.

At the Cleveland suburb, Mentor, Trubisky had an outstanding senior season leading his team to

some incredible come from behind victories over Cleveland area powerhouses like St Ignatius. He had nearly 600 yards of total offense in one game during the playoffs. Mitch Trubisky was definitely one of the nation’s better Quarterback prospects.

Trubisky was highly desired by many colleges including Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan State and Tennessee to name a few.

He picked the Tar Heels and he has had to back up Marquise Williams the past 2 seasons. During Williams time at North Carolina he threw for just under 8,000 yards and ran for almost 2,500 yards.

But, now it’s Trubisky’s turn.

The Tar Heels return one of the best Offensive Lines in the country, plus one of the best corps of Wide Receivers. They also return outstanding power back, Elijah Hood who followed that Offensive Line to the tune of 1,463 yards and 17 Touchdowns as a sophomore.

Trubisky even brought his high school Tight End with him, Brandon Fritts, also from Mentor, Ohio.

2016 should be an exciting season for the Atlantic Coast Conference. North Carolina won the Coastal Division in 2015 before losing to Clemson in the ACC Championship game.

North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Miami and Duke should be in a dog fight for the Coastal championship. Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech could also challenge if the ball bounces right.

I am looking forward to seeing more of Mitch Trubisky and the Tar Heels.
