I’ve always been a fan of Reggae music and when you say Reggae you have to think of Bob Marley. My wife and I went to Jamaica on our honeymoon and we had a great time, but I liked the music before we went.
Bob Marley was simply just cool. Tragically, Marley died of cancer in 1981 but out of several children, he had a son named Rohan.
The younger Marley was raised by his mother after his father passed away in Miami. Rohan played
high school football at Miami Palmetto High School and he was good enough to be offered a football scholarship to the nearby powerhouse Miami Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes were one of the nation’s great teams back in those years. They won 5 national championships between 1983 and 2002 and they were one of the national champions in 1991 the year that Rohan Marley signed with them.
Marley was undersized for a Linebacker at 5-8, 205, but the Hurricanes were always built on speed so his lack of size really didn’t matter.
When Marley signed with the Canes, they had the Bermuda Triangle returning at Linebacker. The guys nicknamed the Triangle consisted of talented Linebackers Darrin Smith, Michael Barrow and Jessie Armstead. They were the top three tacklers for the Hurricanes in 1991. All three of the Linebackers returned in 1992 and led the team in tackles. But, in spite of that, Marley was 7th on the team in total tackles as the Canes finished 11-1.
In 1993, the Bermuda Triangle had gone onto the NFL and Marley stepped up and led the team in tackles that season. Future Pro Football Hall of Fame member Ray Lewis was 4th on the team in tackles that season before he exploded.
While Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson was the second leading tackler among Defensive Tackles only behind the great Warren Sapp who also is a member of the Hall of Fame.

Rohan Marley was playing with the big boys and he was competing.
Marley was injured in 1994 and Ray Lewis had taken over leadership and put up huge numbers at Middle Linebacker.
