Myles Jack

Myles Jack was either a 3 star or a 4 star recruit coming out of Bellevue, Washington in the 2013 class, depending on which recruiting or rating system you use. He signed with UCLA in what was an excellent recruiting class, and he wasn’t considered one of their better players.

But, Myles Jack was clearly a winner and a leader in high school. He played both ways on a 14-0 state championship team and was credited with 98 tackles and 24 sacks as a senior.

Bellevue is just across Lake Washington from the University of Washington and what has been an up and coming program, but apparently Jack wanted to get away from home. Instead of the local Washington Huskies, Myles Jack opted for the warmer climate of Los Angeles and the UCLA Bruins, another up and coming program with head coach Jim Mora.

It didn’t take Myles Jack long to establish himself as a quality college LB and he started 12 games in 2013. Jack was 5th on the team in total tackles with 76. He also had 7 tackles for loss and 1 sack, plus a QB hurry. On top of that, Myles Jack picked off 2 passes and returned 1 for a 24 yard TD.

He broke up 11 passes and forced a fumble and he blocked one kick. Needless to say, but Jack was excellent against both the run and the pass in his one and only season of college football.

Myles Jack was named the Pac 12 freshman of the year on defense.

Jack wasn’t through there. He also got one start on offense at RB. He is average sized for a LB at 6-1, 230, but he packs a wallop as a Running Back and the man can move as well.

UCLA used him in short yardage situations mostly and he scored 7 TDs and rushed for 267 yards.

Jack broke a 66 yard run from Running Back which with his 67 yards in interception returnsĀ  clearly demonstrated his incredible speed for a big man.

Myles Jack was also named the Pac 12 freshman of the year on offense.

Against Arizona State, Jack rushed for 86 yards on 16 carries and had a TD. But, that was the only game he didn’t start at LB.

Against the other Arizona team, the Wildcats, Jack had 6 carries for 120 yards including his 66 yard scoring run. Plus, he had 8 total tackles at LB.

Besides freshman of the year honors on both sides of the ball, Jack also made all of the freshman All American teams.

Look for Jack to make All American at LB over the next 2 seasons unless the Bruins decide to use him more at RB.

This guy is All American quality on either side of the ball and Jim Mora and staff are adding some serious talent to the UCLA football program which will do nothing but help Myles Jack become a better football player and gain more notoriety.

That ALMOST makes we want to be a UCLA fan! Good story! I’d never heard of him before, but I bury my head in the sand of UT Football!
