My 2015 All Freshman Team. How Did I do So Far?

Before the season began, I picked my future Freshman All American Team for 2015. Here is a link just so you don’t believe I am making this up: http://collegefootballcrazy.com/2015-early-freshman-all-american-team/

How did I do?

QB: Kyler Murray – Texas A%M: Murray started his first game this past week. He is more of a runner than a passer right now, but he will improve.

QB: Josh Rosen – UCLA: Clearly Rosen is a super star in the making and he’s started from day one. In his first start against Virginia, Rosen was flawless. But, he’s come back down to earth a bit since

then with 7 Interceptions over the next 7 games. Rosen, without injury, will be a first round pick in three years.

QB: DJ Gillens – Wisconsin: I missed this one. Joel Stave is still the starter and Bart Houston is his back up leaving Gillens out of the picture for now.

QB: Alex Malzone – Michigan: Malzone redshirted this year meaning that I missed on him, also. I still think that Malzone could be a part of the Wolverines’ future at Quarterback.

Players missed:

Jake Browning – Washington

Seth Collins – Oregon State

Drew Lock – Missouri

Lamar Jackson – Louisville

Brett Rypien – Boise State

Jarrett Stidham – Baylor

Lorenzo Nunez – South Carolina

Jeff Smith – Boston College

RB: Jacques Patrick – Florida State: Huge Running Back forced into playing duty by the injury to super star Dalvin Cook. He ran for 162 yards in his first start against Syracuse.

RB: Derrius Guice – LSU: If for not all of the talk about Leonard Fournette at LSU, Guice would be getting more notice. He’s run for 316 yards at nearly 10 yards a carry and each yard has been very

impressive.

RB: CJ Leggett – Georgia Tech: Missed this one and I guessed Leggett merely because of the loss of so many Running Backs at Georgia Tech.

RB: LJ Scott – Michigan State: Another huge back that currently leads the Michigan State Spartans in rushing, so far. Michigan State splits Scott, Madre London, and Gerald Holmes and they are all productive.

Players missed:

Mike Warren – Iowa State

Saquon Barkley – Penn State

Qadree Ollison – Pittsburgh

Myles Gaskin – Washington

Terence Williams – Baylor

FB: David Ducre – LSU: Missed this one, Ducre was an awesome huge Running Back in high school and I figured he would contribute at Fullback as a true freshman. He is redshirting.

WR: DeMarcus Lodge – Ole Miss: Lodge only has one reception on the year, but he’s still going to be a good one for the Rebels.

WR: Cordell Broadus – UCLA: Snoop Dog’s son quit football almost immediately. What a waste.

WR: George Campbell – Florida State: He has played a little bit, but Florida State is loaded at

Wide Receiver. Campbell has 3 receptions on the year.

Players missed:

Christian Kirk – Texas A%M

Calvin Ridley – Alabama

Deon Cain – Clemson

Ray-Ray McCloud – Clemson

John Burt – Texas

Antonio Callaway – Florida

TE: Milan Richard – Clemson: I picked Richard because he is the nephew of Herschel Walker. He has done little so far.

Players missed:

Jackson Harris – Georgia

Tyler Petite – USC

OT: Martez Ivey – Florida: Ivey was the top rated Offensive Tackle prospect in the country and has played some at Left Tackle and some at Left Gurad. He’s definitely the real deal, but Mitch Hyatt of Clemson is the best freshman Offensive Tackle, in my opinion.

OT: Drew Richmond – Tennessee: He expected to start immediately, but the last depth chart I saw had him at 3rd team. He is definitely going to be a player for the Vols.

OT: Keenan Walker – Arizona: The Wildcats suffered some losses up front at Tackle and I assumed Walker might come in and start right away. But, he injured his knee and is redshirting.

OT: Sterling Jenkins – Penn State: Redshirting. This young man is massive and possesses a ton of potential and should help out eventually.

OT: Connor Williams – Texas: Williams has been called the top player on the Texas Offensive Line as a true freshman. He started in game one and has continued. Texas is bad, but starts 9 freshman.

Players missed:

Mitch Hyatt – Clemson: Best freshman OT in the country by far. I missed this one, badly.

Chuma Edoga – USC

OG: Javon Patterson – Ole Miss: Patterson has been a good one for the Ole Miss Rebels.

OG: Garrett Brumfield – LSU: I picked the wrong OG to start for the Tigers. I should have taken fellow true freshman Maea Teuhema.

C: Jake Pisarcik – Oregon: I pegged Pisarcik as the top freshman Center, but at the time I didn’t know about the transfer of Matt Hegarty of Notre Dame to Oregon. Pisarcik is listed as the back up RG.

Players missed:

Maea Teuhema – LSU: Best freshman OG in the country by a wide margin.

Patrick Vahe – Texas: First cousin to Teuhema at LSU.

Defense:

DE: Jashon Cornell – Ohio State: Former 5 star recruit, redshirting.

DE: Bryan Cowart – Auburn: Cowart has played a little and is unhappy with his playing time. He has all the makings of a super star, but the Auburn Tigers are a mess right now for some reason.

DE: Canton Kaumatule – Oregon: One of the worse defenses and he is not playing although he was a 5 star recruit. Probably the replacement for senior DeForest Buckner.

DE: Josh Sweat – Florida State: Great young player and there had been some concern about recovery from injury.

Players missed:

DT: Kahlil McKenzie – Tennessee: He’s an immovable object and really tough against the run.

DT: Daylon Mack – Texas A%M: Very tough against the run and a future NFL guy.

DT: Trenton Thompson – Georgia: Thompson is good against the run and the pass.

DT: Hjalte Froholdt – Arkansas: Back up for the Hogs, but this guy has unlimited potential. From Denmark, he is one of the new breed of international players.

DT: Jerry Tillery – Notre Dame: Tillery plays a little and has 9 total tackles on the season so far.

Players missed:

Terry Beckner Jr – Missouri: Might be the best of all of them and I missed him.

Darian Roseboro – North Carolina State

ILB: Darrin Kirkland – Tennessee: 4 star recruit coming out of Indianapolis and he has done as well as expected, if not more.

ILB: Cameron Smith – USC: Only a 3 star recruit, Smith is a super star. He leads the Trojans in

tackles and Interceptions. Clearly, he is great against the run and the pass. Best freshman Linebacker at USC in decades, maybe ever.

Players missed:

OLB: Malik Jefferson – Texas: Former 5 star recruit is one of the top freshmen in the country and one of the few bright spots for the Texas Longhorns right now. He is tied for 2nd on the team in tackles right now and he will continue improving.

OLB: Dillon Bates – Tennessee: Bates is a second year player that has fought injuries and has had a limited role playing mostly special teams.

Players missed:

Osa Masina – USC

Porter Gustin – USC

CB: Iman Marshall – USC: The top rated Cornerback in last year’s recruiting class and he’s been a starter from the first game. 6-2, 200 Cornerback’s like Marshall are extremely popular and Marshall is the team’s 4th leading tackler.

CB: Kevin Toliver II – LSU: Toliver was the 2nd ranked Cornerback prospect in the nation. He was an immediate starter at CB for the Tigers and is one of the top tacklers on the team. LSU has produced a lot of top Defensive Backs lately and Toliver is one of the latest.

CB: Tarvarus McFadden – Florida State: Highly ranked CB recruit out of Ft Lauderdale, but has played little so far.

CB: Holton Hill – Texas: Big, strong and fast Cornerback that is one of the Longhorns leading tacklers. The defense is really inexperienced with several freshmen starters, but Hill is going to be really good and he has that size that coaches are looking for these days.

players missed:

Rico McGraw – Georgia

Juwuan Briscoe – Georgia

DB: Arrington Farrar – Wisconsin: Farrar has played sparingly as a true freshman, so the jury is still out on him.

DB: Jabrill Peppers – Michigan: Peppers is actually a second year guy and was going to start last year before going down to injury. Peppers is one of the top players in the nation and a top return guy. He’s big, strong and powerful with great tackling skills and coverage skills. He’s definitely one of the top players in the country.

DB: Derwin James – Florida State: One of the new Florida State super stars. James is the 3rd leading tackler for the Noles and getting better. A former 5 star recruit that will soon be an All American.

DB: Davante Davis – Texas: 6-2 or 6-3 guys that can play Cornerback or safety are in high demand these days. Davis combines with Holton Hill and Kris Boyd to form one of the youngest, but most talented backfields in the country.

Players missed:

Darian Orr – Arizona State

Adonis Alexander – Virginia Tech

Marvel Tell – USC

Johnathon Abram – Georgia

I am sure I missed some others, but this class is not even close to last season’s recruiting class.
