Georgia’s Smart Move

It’s a new day for the Georgia Bulldogs. After firing long time coach, Mark Richt, they brought in former Georgia Defensive Back Kirby Smart who was the Defensive Coordinator for national champion Alabama.

Some schools announced they had 100,000 at their Spring Game and I have my doubts because there were a lot of empty seats. But, Georgia filled their stadium up with 93,000 fans and it didn’t look like an empty seat in the house.

They were all there to see the new look Georgia Bulldogs and new coach Kirby Smart, but the

stadium went bonkers when true freshman Quarterback Jacob Eason entered the game. Eason was an early enrollee and has participated in Spring Drills.

Nick Chubb was obviously injured on the first play of the Tennessee game. He participated in the Spring practices but was held out of the Spring Game because it’s really not necessary. Everybody already knows what Chubb can do.

If Chubb can regain the form of his freshman season in 2014, watch out for the Bulldogs this season. With Sony Michel also back, the Bulldogs have some serious talent at Running Back.

Besides Running Back, another position that is just gushing with talent is Tight End. Two years ago, freshman Tight End Jeb Blazevich dazzled with his talent. Last year, it was Jackson Harris. Now, this season, keep an eye out for Isaac Nauta. He was the highest rated Tight End in the country and judging from the Spring Game, he is the real deal.

Then, there is Jordan Davis. The Bulldogs Tight End group is deep and it’s talented.

Smart hired Jim Chaney away from Pittsburgh as his Offensive Coordinator and at Pitt the Tight Ends had 38 catches, total. Those numbers will have to increase at Georgia or there will be some unhappy

Tight Ends.

The Bulldogs had some losses on the Offensive Line, but they do return experienced Greg Pyke and Isaiah Wynn.

Over on the defensive side of the ball, it’s about time for Lorenzo Carter to step up and become the player we all know he can be. The 6-6, 245 Carter, from Norcross, Georgia was a very highly recruited Defensive End that will be an Outside Linebacker for Smart.

We don’t know anything about Kirby Smart’s tendencies as a head coach. Will he want to play a Quarterback with experience? Or, will he just go out there with Jacob Eason? From the limited time these eyes have seen the 3 challengers for the job, Jacob Eason is light years better than the others as far as pure talent. But, will that pure talent be enough to ease Smart’s discomfort with a young guy, or would he prefer the experience of Greyson Lambert?

Time will tell.

You have to hand it to the Georgia Bulldogs fan base. They showed up at the Spring Game like no other fan base.

You have to also be excited about the future with Jacob Eason.
