This may not be a game for people that are not Florida State fans to watch. It could get ugly, really ugly.
But, this is a game that college football fans will want to watch if for nothing else but to get a good look at the talent on the Florida State Seminoles roster.
We are all still waiting for Oklahoma State Quarterback J.W. Walsh to live up to his enormous potential. He is 6-2, 205 and has a good arm. Walsh was on his high school track relay team so his listed 4.5 speed is probably close to correct.
The Cowboys lost a lot of starters on offense and a lot on defense which may mean serious trouble against the #1 ranked Seminoles.
They do return a good Running Back in Desmond Roland who rushed for 811 yards a year ago. But, the guy for Oklahoma State that I am most anxious to see is back up RB Tyreek Hill from Pearson, Georgia by way of Garden City CC. Hill is extremely fast but will he have anywhere to run with only 1 Offensive Line starter returning, is the question
J.W. Walsh went to Guyer High School in Denton, Texas and Mario Edwards Jr the star Defensive End for Florida State went to Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. Sadly for Walsh, they probably do not like each other going back a few years.
Besides Edwards, the defense returns Chris Casher, Eddie Goldman, Jalen Ramsey and Ronald Darby.
The Seminoles obviously return Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston who had a something of a really strange off season. Maybe he can stay out of trouble long enough to lead his team to another title and another Heisman.
It helps that they return 4 out of 5 starters on a talented Offensive Line. There is also plenty of depth and talent at Wide Receiver as usual.
Running Back lost some talent but returns an outstanding back in Karlos Williams. Dalvin Cook is another player I am extremely excited about seeing in this game if he gets a shot. He is a freshman out of Miami and is like Tyreek Hill in that he appears to be shot out of a cannon when he takes off running.
This game could be a blowout but it’s America’s first chance to see the Florida State Seminoles in 2014. The media loves the SEC, but the Seminoles are the real team to beat right now.
This game will be played at a neutral site in Arlington, Texas which should make little difference at all.
Florida State is only an 18 point favorite which is rather surprising to me. I am expecting a dominating performance out of the Seminoles.
