Player of the Week, Todd Gurley Georgia Bulldogs.

Last season was a tough one for Todd Gurley and the Georgia Bulldogs. They still did all right, but they fought through a lot of injuries and some tough breaks such as the Prayer at Jordan Hare.

Gurley still managed to rush for just a shade under 1000 yards.

I liked Gurley from the beginning, but what made him stand out more to me last season was when he was slightly injured and his super back up Keith Marshall also was lost for the year. All that the Bulldogs had left were 2 star true freshman Brendan Douglas and Wide Receiver conversion JJ Green at Running Back. Neither was Todd Gurley, make no mistake about it, but both of them more than held their own. Biggest cheerleader for both of them was none other than starter Todd Gurley. An amazing player, a team leader and a team player.

Gurley was rated as the 22nd best athlete in the country by ESPN coming out of high school. He was supposedly the 10th best player in his state at any position.

Teammate Keith Marshall, Gurley’s back up, was rated the #2 Running Back in the nation. I love the rankings, but they were a bit off on Gurley.

Herschel Walker is the Georgia all time rushing record with 5,259 yards.

Garrison Hearst is second behind Walker with 3,232

Then, Lars Tate at 3,017, Knowshon Moreno came in 4th at 2,734, and Rodney Hampton had 2,668. The Georgia Bulldogs have had a plethora of talented RBs over the years.

Todd Gurley is sitting at 2,374 total yards going into his junior year.

859 yards out of Gurley and he is sitting second place all time on the Georgia Bulldog Rushing list.

Herschel Walker was one of a kind and we may not see another like him.

But, Todd Gurley may be the second best in Georgia Bulldog history.

Gurley will no doubt leave for the lucrative NFL after this season and he will go really high in the draft. The Bulldogs won’t be hurting, either, with the return of Keith Marshall and Brendan Douglas as well as very highly rated recruits Sony Michel and Nick Chubb. Actually, in my opinion, 2015 will be an interesting year for the Dogs because of the competition between Marshall, Douglas, Green, Michel and Chubbs at RB. Michel and Chubb are fantastic looking prospects at Running Back. Watch out for Chubb in particular.

Look for Gurley to have a huge season and be in the battle for the Heisman.
