14 Best Transfers for 2014

These are the 14 guys that I see coming in and having the biggest impact in 2014. This includes all transfers including Junior College guys and ones from 4 year schools with immediate eligibility.

1. Jacob Coker- Alabama QB. Coker comes in from Florida State and has already graduated from college. Supposedly, Coker lost out on a really close battle with Jameis Winston. He is 6-5, 230 and has a cannon for an arm, plus really good running ability. Coker originally hails from Mobile,

Alabama and was an outstanding basketball player in high school which signals to some that he is an outstanding athlete. Bama fans had better hope he works out because their other QBs looked pretty plain in the Spring Game. Some might say that they looked downright awful, but that is not entirely accurate. If Coker does work out, expect Alabama to be in the national championship picture again.

2. Duke Williams- Auburn WR.  His real name is D’haquille which makes Duke sound so much better. I am super high on Duke Williams and I don’t mind printing that. Duke was the Junior College #1 rated WR and it was clear in the Auburn Spring Game that the ranking was well earned. Duke Williams is a high flying, circus catch kind of WR that should team with teammate Sammie Coates to form one of the best WR combos in the country. Duke is an explosive leaper.

If Williams does too well this season look for him to declare for the NFL. Originally from Laplace, Louisiana

3. Tyreek Hill – Oklahoma State RB. When does Oklahoma State not have a good Running Back? OU owns Oklahoma State in football but that doesn’t change the fact that Hill is an absolute burner. He’s one of those guys that looks like he is shot out of a cannon when he takes off. Hill is a bit on the smallish side at 5-8, 190 but should be big enough to be an every down back for the Cowboys.

4. Jake McGee- Florida TE.  Formerly of Virginia where he would have been a senior this season. I suppose he just wanted to play somewhere else for his last season and maybe he just likes the state of Florida. McGee is 6-6, 250 and is one of the top Tight Ends in the country. In 2013, he hauled in 43 passes for 2 TDs. McGee should help out new Offensive Coordinator Kurt Roper with another solid weapon. If Florida QB Jeff Driskel can stay healthy look for the Gators to have a big year and for

McGee to be a huge addition to their offense.

5. Michael Brewer – Virginia Tech  QB. The drawback with Brewer is his size. But, the kid is a winner and has a lot of heart. Brewer is transferring to Virginia Tech only because Texas Tech would not let him transfer to his choice, Texas, where his father and his grandfather played. His father was a walk on QB at Texas and beat out 2 bigger, stronger, faster players ahead of him and lead Texas to a Cotton Bowl victory over Alabama and a #2 ranking.

Texas and Mack Brown passed on him the first time because of size and they had Garrett Gilbert. Given the proper opportunity at Virginia Tech, Brewer will start and put up big numbers and lead Virginia Tech to the top of the ACC standings. I doubt he gets a fair shot.

6. Malcolm Bunche – UCLA. Bunche is a transfer from the Miami Hurricanes and at 6-7, 325 he should help the Offensive Line for the Bruins instantly. In fact, he did start in the Spring Game at Right Tackle. Bunche started at Left Tackle for the Hurricanes in every game in 2012. Then, his playing time was limited in 2013 and he started one game. He has graduated and decided to play his senior year in California for the Bruins. The Bruins have a lot of talent up front but they are young and they fought through injuries a year ago. The Bruins also know that the windows of opportunity are limited in winning championships and they had better make a move while they have Brett Hundley at QB. Bunche should be a huge help for the Bruins in 2014.

7. Luke Del Rio- Oregon State QB. Del Rio will not start in 2014 unless some horrible injury happens to starter Brock Marrion. But, Del Rio transferring to Oregon State is still huge for them. Del Rio grew up around the game with his father being the head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars and currently an assistant with the Denver Broncos. Luke could have gone to several schools coming out of high school and he was recruited by a bunch of top schools. However, he wanted to go to Alabama and walk on for some reason. With the addition of Lane Kiffin at Offensive Coordinator for the Crimson Tide, Del Rio suddenly decided he wanted to be elsewhere and Oregon State was who he picked. He is eligible immediately, but will have to wait his turn.

8. Tyler Murphy- Boston College QB. Florida probably had more action this off season than any school in the country. Guys were in and guys were out and this is definitely Will Muschamp’s last chance to make it work in Gainesville. Tyler Murphy decided to give Boston College a shot and he is originally from Wethersfield, Connecticut. Murphy is 6-2, 210 and was a top recruit coming into

Florida. Murphy threw for 1,216 yards in 2013 and 6 TDs. He also threw for 5 interceptions and would not have played if Driskel had been healthy. Murphy has a shot at Boston College of making a difference at QB.

9. Dontavius Blair- Tennessee OT. Blair is a 6-7, 305 Offensive Tackle from Anniston, Alabama by way of Garden City Community College in Kansas. The thing with Blair is that Tennessee lost all 5 starters up front from a year ago and they have such little depth that they needed bodies in the worst way. Blair is more than just a body, he is an instant starter at Left Tackle for a program that needs him very badly. The Vols had one of the top recruiting classes in the country in 2014 and it should show up immediately with players like Blair.

10. Dalvon Stuckey- Arizona State DT. Stuckey is a 6-3, 305 defensive tackle originally from De Funiak Springs, Florida that played at Pearl River Community College. Stuckey should start instantly and be a huge difference maker from day one. Stuckey is rated as the #2 Defensive Tackle prospect in the entire country and has the size and talent to make a huge difference up front for the Sun Devils. ASU coach Todd Graham is a very defensive minded coach and the Sun Devils should always be competitive on this side of the ball and they have the advantage of having a very good offense. Dalvon Stuckey is a name to remember for the future.

11. Edmond Boateng- Arizona State DE. Coming in at 6-4, 275, Boateng is battle ready at Defensive End for the Sun Devils. He is another outstanding prospect out of the sunshine state, hailing from Wesley Chapel, Florida. He played for New Mexico Military Institute in 2013 and was the #3 rated DE prospect in the entire country.

Boateng should team up with Stuckey and make one half of a solid defensive front for the Sun Devils.

12. Jordan Allen – Arizona DE. Jordan Allen is a 6-6, 255 Defensive End from West Monroe, Louisiana. He transferred to Arizona from LSU for more playing time, but he did play for the Tigers a little bit. Allen did not play in 2012, but he had 16 tackles with 2 for losses and 2 sacks in 2013. The Arizona Wildcats had a better opportunity for Allen to shine. Wildcats should be really good on offense but their defense could use a little help and maybe Allen is that guy to help them to another level. I will be surprised if Allen does not have a bit year for the Wildcats.

13. Cody Riggs – Notre Dame CB. At 5-9, 190, Riggs is not a huge player but was a very good Cornerback for the Florida Gators a year ago. For all of it’s problems, Florida was still a very good defensive team last season and Riggs was a huge part of that. Riggs should be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish top DB from day one. For the Gators last season, Riggs had 51 tackles including 6.5 for losses and 1.5 sacks. He had no interceptions, but he did break up 3 passes.

Riggs should be an immediate factor for the Irish and he will need to be.

14. Terrell Clinkscales- Kansas State DT. At 6-3, 315, Clinkscales should clog up the middle pretty well for the Wildcats. Probably, Clinkscales should be much lower on this list as he dominates from day one. Bill Snyder is one of the top coaches in America and he knows how to replenish his football team with JC guys and has been doing it for years. Clinkscales is rated as the Kansas State Wildcats top prospect for 2014 and he should make a huge difference in the Defensive Line from day one. Look for Clinkscales to be a force from day one. He had previously committed to Nebraska, another school that knows defensive line talent and he was recruited very hard by Alabama as well.
